I picked up my library holds today. It's obvious that I'm totally mentally prepared for my children to start attending public school in two weeks, right? 😬🙃😫

My #WildestDreams have been mostly nightmares lately.

#AugustGrrrl

readordierachel That's a big step. Anxiety is understandable. Hope the books help! 7y
Christine Aww!! 7y
Cinfhen Echoing @ReadOrDieRachel and then there's always a glass of wine 🍷 💕 7y

LeahBergen Aww! I've been thinking about those little loves lately. I know you've done an amazing job preparing them for this moment and they will flourish. 😘😘😘😘 7y
saresmoore @ReadOrDieRachel @Christine @Cinfhen Thank you all! I'm sure they will be a-okay. And I'll recover eventually. 😬 7y
saresmoore @LeahBergen Like little flower fairies! Today Ellie checked out every non-fiction book she could find on dragons and mermaids. "But, Mom, you don't know mermaids are not real just because no one has ever seen one." ? 7y
Cinfhen BTW: I totally believe in mermaids and I've watched several YouTube videos on their sightings! #MermaidsAreReal Ellie, don't let them tell u otherwise 💕 7y
saresmoore @Cinfhen ♥️♥️♥️🏝🐠👱‍♀️ 7y
ReadingEnvy Oh wow big change for you!! 7y
saresmoore @ReadingEnvy Huge! We are talking twenty-five solid hours of uninterrupted kid-free time per week! 😱 7y
MicheleinPhilly Just think of all the wonderful stories they'll come home with every day. And as @LeahBergen said, you've given them a wonderful foundation from which to build. I hope you find some useful techniques from these books. And you can always use us as a sounding board. ❤️ 7y
saresmoore @MicheleinPhilly Oh, thank you so much for the encouragement! ♥️ Panic disorder is my lifelong unwanted houseguest and big life changes turn her into a total bitch. Ha! Bibliotherapy and a little bit of booze are my strategies for this transition. Your words mean so much! 7y
MicheleinPhilly I hear you, my friend! Panic disorder is a bitch and she shows up on our doorstep unannounced A LOT. Happy to chat offline anytime. Lord knows I'm not sleeping. Might as well make myself useful. ☺️😘 7y
LauraBeth Thinking about you - that school is so lucky to be getting your girls as students ? I bet they'll do awesome. Just take it day by day. While I was typing this, Emma's bus just stopped at our house doing a "dry run" for next week and I about had my own anxiety attack. The school district has designated our house as the official bus stop for the entire subdivision ?That's gonna be a lot of opportunities for me to embarrass my kid ? 7y
saresmoore @LauraBeth 😂 You are THE BEST mom! 7y
merelybookish @LauraBeth Wow! How does your daughter feel about that designation? There's the upside (shortest walk to bus stop) but also downside (potential for Mom to embarrass.) I would be conflicted! 7y
merelybookish @saresmoore I hope it all goes well. My guess is this will prove harder on you than on them. So try to breath and drink wine and read. Eventually you may come to like those 25 child-free hours. (But I'm the mom counting down the days (16!) till school starts. 😉) 7y
saresmoore @merelybookish Your wisdom is greatly appreciated! I'm counting down the days, too (13). They're driving me batty and it's been way too long since I've had time to myself. When I'm rational, I'm ecstatic! Haha! So I am taking your recommendation—breathing, 🍷, 📚—to get back to the sane place. 7y
ValerieAndBooks It will all work out 💖 and we're here for you! 7y
saresmoore @ValerieAndBooks Thank you! I know you're right. Good things are on the horizon. 7y
LauraBeth @merelybookish shortest distance to walk doesn't cancel out the embarrassment 😂 7y
ReadingEnvy I know it will be a big transition but my strategy when confronting hours of "empty" time is to have a plan for that time so I don't crash, physically or emotionally. I'm the girl that used to get sick on every vacation. 7y
saresmoore @ReadingEnvy That is sage advice. Every vacation, most holidays, and two-three times per week in middle school over here! Fortunately, I manage it pretty well now, but the freedom is daunting. 7y
LauraBeth @saresmoore since this is a big transition - please don't be afraid to ask the teacher to email you an update during the first day (or week). I know what a big deal this is and how anxious and worried you must feel, but I'm sure God planted y'all in FL for reasons that may be unseen now. Also - take advantage of the elementary school days to go eat lunch with them 😊 I loved doing that. And take comfort in knowing how well you're loving them ❤️ 7y
Kangaj1 I will be praying for you. We are enrolling ours after 8 years of homeschooling. Though I will be in grad school, so though it won't be "free" time, it will be "me" time! 7y
saresmoore @LauraBeth I don't even have words. Thank you. ♥️♥️♥️ 7y
saresmoore @Kangaj1 Thank you—and I will return those prayers! I'm inordinately, vicariously excited for you to be doing grad school! 7y
Jinjer I went to public school and don't have kids so am curious to know what's so nerve wracking about it. 🤔 7y
saresmoore @Jinjer It's more the transition for me. I've been homeschooling for the last three years because the schools we are zoned for have such high crime and terrible educational programs. They will be starting at a much safer school than the ones nearby, but it's still a huge adjustment for all of us! 7y
Jinjer Makes sense. 7y

EllieDottie Wishing you lots of peace 💜💙💚💛❤️ 7y
