Violet is a bored prophet toeing the line with Prince Cyrus. She knows she should hold her tongue around her future boss, but he is insufferable and threatens to do away with her position until a curse emerges from the country's borders that make Violet more valuable than ever. The premise is so promising, but I found the “twists“ predictable and was left wanting more development out of the characters.

This was okay I‘ve been reading it with a book club and just finished was supposed to be done in June but i just didn‘t keep up because of everything else going on so I may have to reread at a different pace some other time

I love classics told from an alternate perspective and “Lady MacBeth” fits the bill. It‘s dark, fun, and an all around enjoyable read.

Dark and atmospheric, Reid does a fabulous job of setting the tone of a dreary and dank remote Scottish castle. Reid does take some creative license but I don‘t think the purpose was to simply retell the play, but to reimagine what it might have been like for a young ‘witch-touched‘ woman to be thrown into a male driven world, with a power hungry husband. Macbeth is my favourite Shakespearean play and Reid did a commendable job.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Loved this just like every other Kalynn Bayron book I've read. The villain is fantastic! My only complaint is I would have liked to spend more time in the creepy sentient castle of the Knight.

LeeRHarry That‘s good to know - I‘ve enjoyed her other books that I have read too. 😊 3w

Wow! I went into this fantasy completely blind and I wish the same for you so I‘m not going to say much. Just that it was great fun, remarkable world building and a fascinating cast of characters. Can‘t wait to read the next one when it comes out this fall.

Where to begin? This is a time-travel, murder-mystery romance. There were some things I liked, mostly in the second half when the plot picked up and I wanted to know what was going to happen. But overall, this is just not my style and I felt like it had flaws. The writing is way too descriptive for me. I don‘t need to know every little action, it clogs up my reading. The lack of communication between characters to make the plot work annoyed me.

Erin.Elizabeth10 I know I‘m not good at understanding time travel, so that‘s on me, but I really didn‘t get the time travel mechanics and it wasn‘t explained in a way that made sense to me. 1mo
Karisimo I felt the same- too descriptive and flawed 1mo
Erin.Elizabeth10 @Karisimo I‘m glad I‘m not the only one! 1mo

Light pick. Atmospheric with an intricate plot. There were certain plot points that seemed to be contradictory to the world building. Still a good time.
