I enjoy haunting memoirs. The author‘s story appears on the tv series Paranormal Witness, Season 2, Episode 2…but her book is much better. For years, she lived in fear in the old Brooklyn house she and her family lived in, until finding out what happened to the restless spirits occupying her home, and why they were there. Fascinating, personal. Books like this help open up the conversation for what many experience but fear to talk about.

Well, I was a little disappointed in this book. The other 3 had been full of suspense and twists, this one not at all. I know Stone has some books based on Autumn Trent, so maybe this was a book to introduce her to Stones' readers. I hope so anyway.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

When I started reading this book, it reminded me a lot of Poltergeist (film). Here is a memoir from the 1980s in Crosby, TX: when a family unknowingly moves into a new subdivision that was built over a historical Black cemetery, they quickly find themselves in an unreal situation. I couldn‘t help but be reminded of how many Black communities have been destroyed and covered up (Central Park, Lake Lanier, etc).

JenniferEgnor Shown: when you look up Black Hope Cemetery on Google Earth Street View, a street and suburb comes up. There is no sign that a cemetery ever was. Below: possibly the only photo ever taken of the cemetery before it was bulldozed. 2w

It almost never happens - actually, I can't think of a series I ever did that - that I go and read the next volume immediately after finishing the first book. But here? I really did not want to part from Nigel and Oscar. It felt like we didn't have enough time together, so I went and got volume two. And love that one too. There's just everything in it I love and need right now. So why wait?

lil1inblue I loved the first book. I'm hoping to sneak this one in this month. 🖤 1mo

I always try to cram at least one nonfiction piece each October, and this one kept with that tradition. This is about Danny Robins, a British comedian and broadcaster, and his research into the paranormal. I listened to a few episodes of his podcast last year and thought I‘d try his book. Will he change your opinion on ghosts and the supernatural? No. But he‘s charming and his enthusiasm on the subject is infectious!
