Almyrida, Crete Holiday Reads 2024
KS : Interesting take on crime fiction masquerading as true crime.
TDT : thoroughly enjoyed this sequel. More of the same time travelling heist. Bit too long though.
ASOD : I love this authors novels, however this was mediocre short fiction, clearly most written before she hit the big time
AFC: Cosy Agatha Christie style crime which was a fun quick read
2024 Reads Continued
WYWD - a Quick Reads featuring Roy Grace.
PYD - 18 in the Roy Grace Series. Always enjoy these British Crime novels, this one about art theft and forgeries.
MITC - not as long as her previous novel and the formula remains the same. Romantic thriller.
TSID - Ingenious British crime novel no2 that's shaping to be a very good series.
"A life without books is a life not lived, Dior. There's a magik like no other to be found in them. To open a book is to open a door—to another place, another time, another mind."
So true.
Worked up a sweat moving my entire SK Collection to decorate. Would have taken half the time if I hadn't stopped and flicked through every one bringing back memories of how I acquired each one (and dusted them).
I simply adore the graphic quality, colours, and font of these US covers for the Daniel Hawthorne series. So effective in their simplicity.
Blood soaked and action packed from start to finish with revelations and plot twists a plenty. New characters introduced and a welcome return to the old characters Again it's taken me a while to get through this, but well worth it. Highly recommend this series!
Book 3 HURRY UP!
Twatgoblin! 😂
Shelfie No.1
I have officially run out of shelf space for my SK Collection.
Still need to get My Pretty Pony, Little Sisters Of Eluria and the forthcoming You like It Darker
TD - bleak pandemic but very readable thriller. 3 POVs that seemly don't connect. I figured out the big twists 3rd of way thru.
ATDT twisty crime drama. Was good but, not a patch on her debut novel
TLM - really enjoyed this and the time period it was set in. Look forward to the next book, however wary of how long books 2,3&4 are.
TDOW black humour crime novel set in a 'prison' town. Very quickly read this.
A good start to 2024 reading.
Final 2023 Reads
ARCFT - So many Christmas Clichés! Was average at best
TCK - Fairly decent debut novel, did figure out the killer way too early though.
AMLMC - Christmas soft Porn 🤭
Did laugh quite a bit and did really like the LGBTQ+ and body positive aspects of this. Will read the next one next Christmas.
2023 Reads Continued...
MRIAV - fun nonsense rom com which deserves to have a follow up
MITF - Clever different format for a crime novel which kept me reading
HI - I really didn't like the writing style and I think because of this I found it rather dull for a 'horror' novel. Struggled to finish it.
MOTCE - another puzzle from this author. Quick read but nothing special.
😃That's my lottery win spent! 10 years of bidding and losing on EBay, I finally have a reasonably priced like new first edition slip cased copy of SKs rare SoD vol 2
Only My Pretty Pony left to find and I'm SK Complete.
2023 Reads Continued.....☀️ Holiday in Greece
ROW - Great conclusion to the Duology. Seemed to set it up for the next in Grishaverse novels
TDATDW - was a tad dull tbh. 500+ pages for very little pay off. Disappointed as Evelyn was so good.
TSBCGTSV - I liked the 90s setting and the housewives trying to keep up appearances vibes.
Was quite creepy in places.
2023 Reads continued
TFTOP - a welcome return to the Londons and characters old and new. Was all I hoped for and more. How long do I have to wait for book 2?
TOOL - Just how many twists can one get in a book? Suspended belief and just enjoyed the ride. Rolled my eyes but in a good way. IMO Sagers best since HBD.
2023 Reads continued
My last read by Emily Henry. Just as non rom com as the previous
two novels . The humour (was it even that?!?) just didn't do it for me.
Super chuffed that I bid and actually won this on Ebay. Super Rare ARC of The Secretary of Dreams Vol 1 #55 by Stephen King. I only need Vol2 and My Pretty Pony and my collection is finally complete after collecting his works for 44 years
2023 Reads continued...
KOS - I never get tired of returning to The Grishaverse
TC - The power of friendships. Whilst not as good as The Guncle, still a lot to love about this.
Lanzarote Holiday 2023 Reading
RBT - Quite a brutal crime thriller with an LGBTQ+ themed storyline.
JHMYY - Surprised how much fun
this was. Made my laugh a lot. Quick summer holiday read
TCATEOTW - Interesting premise with a decide for yourself ending.
2023 Reads continued...
HM : Still loved the banter between Luc and Oliver, not sure on that ending though. I await book 3: Father Material
2023 Reads Continued....
I'm an aging cynical homosexual who teared up way too many times at this wonderfully written found family story.
LF : I was a little disappointed how the finale wrapped it all up but also a little sad to say goodbye to the Roci Crew.
2023 Reads continued
TSHOEH - my favourite TJR so far.
TW - putting all the pieces in place for the Finale
This book nerd just got majorly excited. YES! 3rd Oct! 📚🥳😍
The sequel to one of the best fantasy trilogies I have ever read.
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!
Costa Teguise, Lanzarote holiday reads 2023
2023 Reads....
Finally caught up with my Stuart MacBride novels.
Love his damaged police officers, brutal crimes, dark humour but that twist threw me unexpectedly. Enjoyed but still not sure if it worked?
Preferred Coffinmaker.
Getting ready now to finish The Expanse with Auberon
I recommend this jigsaw Mayhem in the Library by Big Potato Games. There are 101 book titles hidden in there. I think I got half of them.
2022...
...42 Books Read
Still to reach 52. 2023?!?
Favs this year: Empire of the Vampire, The Plot, A Flicker in the Dark.
Early Christmas 🎁 The companion puzzle to last year's The World of Dracula. Would now like to see a Werewolf or Invisible Man 🧩🧩
2022 Reads Continued
TGAT:S I've vowed to finish this mammoth trilogy in four parts by mid 2023. Started the series in 2016.
THATL- that Bonkers Twist was not good. Think it's my least favourite of Sagers
2022 Reads Continued
CIAC - That was a blast! Established the characters real quick then got on with the gory bloody fun. A homage to all those 80s Slacker flicks. 🤡🌽🏹🩸
CIAC2FL is in order.
2022 Reads continued......
LTIL - better than LED, as usual with his novels the last 3rd is better, I can usually guess who the culprit is from about a 3rd in, and then the final twist throws you.I still think HBD is his best work to date. Will read THATL when its a cheap £1.99. Riley Sager is always a great holiday quick read.
I thought it would be sold out everywhere but thank you to my local bookshop Griffin Books Penarth for the last copy.
I will probably get the Trade Paperwork in the Airport on the way to Cyprus to actually read.
SK Day has finally arrived! 😁
📚 To escape the everyday life, the lifelong anxiety. I can travel the world and beyond in a book.
📚Probably both my parents. Dad was a lover of thrillers and Mum loved a trashy blockbuster popular summer read. I mostly read crime, suspense, horror and fantasy.
📚I read every day, usually before bedtime. If I'm anxious and the thoughts wake me up I read to help with that. If I have a day off and nothing planned I love an afternoon of reading.
Am I the only one on here who just didn't get on with this. Someone compared this with RW&RB Edwardian style? WHAT? NOPE!
Was slow, the writing style made the reading of it feel even slower, the main characters weren't very likeable or endearing, the sex scenes made my think they were written for another book, seemed awkward.
I did like the premise and the period setting but not enough to want to read A Restless Truth.
2022 Reads continued
HP...Hmmmm did it live up to the Hype....was it horror? Was it psychological thriller? A chiller? None of them really. Was well written but..Meh. The big twist/reveal was just lukewarm
Cyprus 2022 Holiday Reads
I got a little tired of the 'movie in my mind' repetition, the last third was more enjoyable than the beginning, I figured out the twists and THE END. An enjoyable sunbathing read but not as cracking as Sagers HBD.
More 2022 Reads
Stronger than recent previous DP adventures and the last 'true Dirk Pitt'. Clives son has now taken full rein...time will tell.
I gave my original p/back copy away. Found this beauty on Etsy
The world demands a sequel NOW!
Thank you ShellBeeBooks 😊
#iloveanlgbt+romcom
My Expanse is complete
I have the final two novels to read, plus the last two novellas
2022 Reads #2
Surprised how much I liked the Sanatorium for a debut novel, however loved The Plot more.
