Animal Liberation | Peter Singer
Pickpick

A wonderfully written comprehensive account of the arguments against using and abusing non human animals. A book that appeals to reason rather than emotions and that employs emotive language minimally. The philosophy visited throughout the book is made accessible and digestible to all. I am in awe of this book and of Peter Singer‘s writing and dedication to the cause of animals rights. I hope enough of us will have the open mind to read it.

#LitsyPSA: This is $2.99 as a Kindle ebook, and I think it‘s in sale for other formats. I read this years ago and I was about one book away from giving up all meat. It probably would have been more impactful if I didn‘t have a deep love of pork. However, it has informed many decisions I‘ve made over the years about what I eat and how I think about animals. If you‘re squeamish, be prepared, but you should read this anyway. We can do better.

Pickpick

I have just finished Peter Singer's Animal Liberation. As the father of the modern animal rights movement you can't argue against his position. He quotes Jeremy Bentham in the last chapter saying it is not a question of can they reason or talk, but can they suffer? This is not an easy read but then again books like these never are.

This book encompasses such a good argument. This is one part of it.
