Up to 6hrs 19min! I really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately, I guessed all the big “reveals” within the first 200 pages or so. They were just so very obvious and the book thought it was so very clever, but it just made it so very boring. Will I read the sequel? Yes, because I want to know what happens. Am I happy about that? Not really.

I am trying VERY hard to like this book, but it is being so unbelievably predictable! That, and I wouldn‘t consider myself one who goes looking for mistakes in books but come on guys. Dfead? Anyway, that‘s...roughly 4.5 hours on the clock for me? Tomorrow will be MUCH more productive with the flight and all. Woot!

I know there are only four days left until the new year, but I‘m hoping to get these read for some more #WinterGames holiday reads, lol. Plus my YA fantasy book that my husband gave me for my birthday in October and I want to read before I jump into my Christmas haul! 😂

So far, I‘ve read for 4 hours during #24b42020, but I‘m terrible at keeping my stopwatch going. 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's winter-y out there today so I'm stretched on my comfy spot and trying to get one more book in before it's officially December.

Fairly well developed plot, original and interesting world building, and intriguing characters.

Unfortunately the writing was a tad dry and the book lacked atmosphere, so the world building wasn‘t as vivid and the characters fell a tad flat and distant, despite the creativity that went into crafting each one of them and how they fit within the world and with each other.

Still an interesting storyline and I‘m hopeful for the next book.

3.5 / 5 ⭐ I enjoyed this book although I was more interested in some characters' stories than others. Chapters following characters I was less invested in dragged for me. But I really enjoyed the way it came together in the end and am lookjng forward to the next book. Also got slight 'Six of Crows' vibes initially, which helped draw me in because I love that series.

In true me fashion, I am cheating on my book with a much younger, much shinier model. What can I say? I have committment issues 🤷‍♀️

I'm not sure what I'll be snacking on this weekend but look at that stack 😍

Going to work on trying to finish up some books I've already started. I've also got The Chosen and The Electric Heir on ebook and House of Salt and Sorrows on audio in process so I have lots of options!

Now is this book mindbogglingly unique and blew me out of the water? No but it's a solid YA fantasy and I'm rather impressed this is a debut. I think the characters can be more fleshed out (and I assume this will come in the series) but I had no issue keeping them all separate. I liked that they all had their own stories which began braiding together. The conclusion seemed very epic and cinematic to me and I am so excited for the sequel
