My husband is going away for a week so I made some plans of my own…

AmyG That sounds just amazing. Have fun! 2mo
Aims42 Perfection! My husband left yesterday for a guy‘s fishing trip in Canada for a week. I stocked up on easy dinners for the week so I can just sit and read 😇🤪 Have fun!!! 2mo
LiteraryinPA Looks like you‘re going to have an awesome time! I particularly recommend Wrong Place Wrong Time. 2mo

Successful vacation last week-stayed home and watched baseball, read, and knitted.

“Toxic Prey“ was awesome. “Forgotten Trail“ was another solid entry in the series.

“The Barrow...“ and “Black God's Drum“ was going to be my Sunday reads but I've got stuff to do for work. I'm going to save them for lunches this week.

After these two novellas, King's “Running Man“ is in the hole (to use a baseball term).

“We come crawling through these cracks, orphans, lobotomies; if you ask me what I want, I'll tell you. I want everything. Whole rotten world come down and break.“

Remembering Kathy Acker, one of the greats, on her birthday.

This is book 2 of a duology. I read book 1 four years ago, and the Colorado library system never got book 2. I found it now in Alaska, but it is a direct sequel (like, set a day or two after the events of book 1), and I didn't remember enough to fully enjoy it. Also, while there were supernatural elements, it wasn't nearly as creepy as the first. I suspect it would be better reading them back-to-back, but this didn't work on its own.

underground_bks Normalize recapping the previous book in the series, publishing industry 🙏🏼 9mo
TieDyeDude Someone should make a wiki-style website where anyone can post and edit entries. I've seen a site or two with series recaps, but they are very niche (like one or two people recapping the books they like). 9mo

So glad to have finally read this. I appreciate her vulnerability and honesty; so glad she is living her truth after decades of struggles. (And congrats are in order as she recently got married!)

I presented Joe Strummer as my social justice research subject to the class today! The timeline is colored according to band phases with pieces to show the albums and relevant gigs:)
