#MentalHealthMonday check in

#1. I‘m feeling anxious & overwhelmed. There‘re lots I want to do & I don‘t know where to begin. I wish I had a personal assistant to help me stay on track. 😩
#2. It depends on the affirmation, but overall I‘m not a fan. I especially don‘t like ones about money and success. Positive thinking is helpful tool in many situations, but it won‘t make us rich or solve all our problems. ⬇️

Kerrbearlib I only use positive affirmations if they feel sincere and realistic. A part of me already has to believe them. I like some affirmations from this book. Example: “I am self-defining.” I believe this, but sometimes I forget & must remind myself.

7h
CatLass007 I haven‘t had much sleep in the last three or four weeks. But last night I slept 2.5 and 1.5 hours, the most I‘ve slept in that entire time. It‘s still not enough but I hope I‘m turning the corner. I‘m skeptical about positive affirmations. I don‘t believe that we can “manifest” money or a good job. But if I‘m working to build different habits, improving my posture, for example, then I find they can help. 4h
Kerrbearlib @CatLass007 that‘s great you were able to get more sleep. Every bit helps! I agree that we can‘t “manifest” money or good jobs. What things do you do to improve your posture? I‘m working to improve mine as well. (edited) 1h

CatLass007 I have a postit note at my computer and at other locations where I sit for extended periods with an affirmation that says “I have good posture.” It‘s a gentle reminder. 1h
Kerrbearlib @CatLass007 I love that - maybe I‘ll try it too! 52m
CatLass007 I tend to beat myself up so in a situation like this I definitely believe in positive affirmations. 49m

#MentalHealthMonday

1) Although I had to work it was 73 degrees today and lovely. A beautiful day goes a long way in improving my mood.
2) I‘m going with neutral leaning towards positive. I keep the negative to a minimum and have some trusted sources I follow for action tips and feel goods. Except for Litsy which is my happy place.
3) Yes, even the positive can be a bit much weirdly so breaks are necessary.

1. Feeling pretty good mentally but fighting a terrible cold and cough.
2. It can be positive or negative. I am on instagram as I follow other knitters, it‘s my yarn Litsy, so to speak. But if I‘m not careful I can go down political rabbit holes 😝
3. Yes, and it is helpful to my productivity and anxiety to put my phone down. Everything is in my phone, including audiobooks so total divorce would be tough.

Not sure if this is for a specific group, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to jump in.

1. Pretty well. Time feels slippery today, and I'm constantly starving because I've increased my activity level but not my caloric intake (by design), so I'm fighting hangriness.
2. Mostly negative (except for Litsy) unless I'm very careful.
3. I'm taking a break from Facebook and using IG & Bluesky sparingly. So far, so good.

Kerrbearlib So glad you joined in - anyone is welcome! I can relate to being hangry. And time being slippery - what a great way to describe it! Time often feels slippery to me. 3w

#MentalHealthMonday
1. Sleepy 😴
2. Negative. I had to completly overhaul my IG because I was just doom scrolling. I have Rednote for calm videos, Tiktok is a mix of fun and frustrating, IG is bookish nerdy stuff, and FB I only look at for neighborhood updates (HOA/events) bc it's too frustrating.
3 Yes. But honestly its my husband that makes me take them when I get worked up. 🤣

@Kerrbearlib

Kerrbearlib It‘s interesting how some social media platforms can be worse than others for our mental health. LOL my husband has told me to take breaks too 🤣 What kind of videos do you like on Rednote? 3w
InkedBookworm13 @Kerrbearlib I watch videos of other countries cooking, Old Man's Joy videos (tiny cars/trikes), shopping (other countries vs US price/items), Americans life in other countries (mostly China and Germany) and cute animals 3w

1. I feel okay today. Exercise class was fun, and we got some much needed rain.
2. Yes. It‘s how I stay in touch with some of my friends and get some (but not all) of my news. On the other hand, it can also be frivolous at best and mean spirited. I make a point not to argue with strangers, as tempting as it may be.
3. When I shut it down a couple hours before bedtime (except for Litsy of course), I‘ve found that helps.
#mentalhealthmonday

Kerrbearlib Glad you had fun at exercise class! I have also found that logging off before bed helps. I try to log out between 9 pm and 10 pm every night and then give my electronics to my husband to hide. It‘s helped me sleep better. (edited) 3w
Susanita @Kerrbearlib That‘s a good idea. Unfortunately I have to use my phone to play music that will blot out the faux news in the other room, but I‘m getting better at doing that only and not going off on social media tangents. 3w

#MentalHealthMonday

1. Okay, I‘m tired & somewhat stressed & it‘s a Monday of a busy week.😬

2. Both. Sites like Litsy (my main social media) & certain positive accounts I follow on Instagram & TikTok have a good impact. Most of the rest of it & the news have a negative impact. I am only on Facebook for Messenger contact with my siblings & limited family updates but otherwise stay off.

3. Not total breaks but partial ones & news breaks help.

Kerrbearlib I‘m the same way with Facebook. I want to quit it altogether but I am not there yet lol. News breaks have been helpful for me too, even more so than social media breaks. 3w
Kerrbearlib I hope your week goes well! 3w

1. We‘re doin‘ okay! Physically feeling bad (boyf‘s been sick) but I have stuff to DO 😤
2. Both? Positive on some sites (Insta Reels is all puppies, kittens, and travel) and negative on others (doom scrolling thru TikTok to keep up with the times)
3. Yeah, but not super long breaks. I‘m hardly ever on Insta, and I have a timer for 1 hour on TT/day. It helps.

#mentalhealthmonday @Kerrbearlib

Kerrbearlib That‘s a good idea with the timer! I hope you feel better soon. 3w

1. I am ok… a little stressed out since we have our state testing tomorrow
2. A little bit of both… I scroll mindlessly to give myself a brain break but the negativity of it is a bit much sometimes
3. I have never taken a break from social media completely but I have hidden people who are to negative and that helps

Kerrbearlib I hope the testing goes well. I have also hidden people/muted people on social media. That is one thing I like on social media vs. offline life. You can‘t hide or mute people in real life.😆 3w

1. Feeling good!
2. I don't do much with social media. Mainly Litsy, so it doesn't impact me at all.
3. N/A

Have a great week everyone! 💜📖💜📚💜

Kerrbearlib That‘s great that it doesn‘t affect you much. Hope you have a great week too! 😊 3w

mobill76 I wish more of my friends were on Litsy. Books are way more interesting than the endless stream of memes. 3w
