“… I tried to end up anyplace but here. Who am I kidding? Here I am.”
GREAT collection. Very much enjoyed, appreciated, and provoked by these poems. REMEMBER this poet‘s name.
Colorful introduction to African American #poetry — #poem snippets from a wide variety of poets were chosen and illustrated by artist #AshleyBryan. A full list of the poems and sources is included in the back and would make wonderful further reading. #RitaDove #DiverseBooks

“a teardrop of ecstasy, a thimbleful of ache”
A great collection from an author from my home state, Ohio.
Picture is my daughter with her grandma sitting in the seat on the bus where Rosa refused to move. The bus is at the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. It was found in a field in Montgomery and the museum won it at auction for almost half a million dollars. I understand the Smithsonian was quite disappointed.
