“… I tried to end up anyplace but here. Who am I kidding? Here I am.”
GREAT collection. Very much enjoyed, appreciated, and provoked by these poems. REMEMBER this poet‘s name.
“a teardrop of ecstasy, a thimbleful of ache”
A great collection from an author from my home state, Ohio.
Picture is my daughter with her grandma sitting in the seat on the bus where Rosa refused to move. The bus is at the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. It was found in a field in Montgomery and the museum won it at auction for almost half a million dollars. I understand the Smithsonian was quite disappointed.

I was piroutte and flourish,
I was filigree and flame.
How could I count my blessings
when I didn't know their names?
Fascinating and unique poetry collection, well worth the read. Definitely recommended. Pictured is the beginning of my favourite poem in the collection.
The quiet resignation of this poem is perhaps also its power... "I tried to end up anyplace but here. Who am I kidding? Here I am."
