It took me 2 years to get through this just because I kept forgetting to read it at times, but I enjoyed every minute of it (and will probably start again tomorrow). This lovely tome takes the reader not just through the year, but through all of Shakespeare‘s works and throughout Shakespeare‘s life.

This is a fun fact. Now I want to see if I can get my hands on a copy of this collaboration…or at least see a facsimile of it. It would be cool to see Shakespeare‘s handwriting.

GingerAntics @Graywacke it is disturbing, but also a hole in the argument by some that Shakespeare never did anything original. He does histories of the past, but he also brings in current events as it were. I just feel bad for poor Rodrigo Lopez. He probably didn‘t do anything to the Queen, but no one was about to actually check on that. Antisemitism ruled the day on that one. 3y

Graywacke @GingerAntics right. He was surely innocent. No one poisons a queen, certainly not a non-English physician dependent on royal patronage. Makes no sense. It‘s all political bloody maneuvering. 3y

Sometimes I wish I could tell my students to go sleep it off. 😏 We‘re setting them up to fail in so many ways with all this ridiculous sleep deprivation younger and younger.

Interesting, fun facts about R&J. The “Balcony Scene” has no balcony, and “wherefore” doesn‘t mean where. That certainly changes the meaning of that line. I‘ve read R&J three times, all in classes, and no one ever talked about the meaning of “wherefore.”
