This second-in-series (technically) cozy mystery about a Canadian veterinarian is more brutally violent and socially charged than expected for the genre. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#six-ostriches-dr-bannerman-vet-myste...

Publication is expected May 22.

"Listen up, let me tell you a story...!" Since the studio cast recording of Six is getting me through this quarantine, I figured I'd better dig into the source material. #six #sixthemusical #sorrynotsorry

Spotted a number six. On to number seven... #six #countingbooks Thoroughly enjoying Neal Stephenson's wordsmithery (is wordsmithery a word?) and world-building. It's the book, and series of books, that the phrase 'sprawling epic' could have been designed for

Very cute book/play about six kids stuck in a bathroom. And yes, there is a stuffed cat involved. Sort of reminds me of a middle school version of the Breakfast Club. Also includes the actual play that can be acted out. I already read my book for #litsybythenumbers #6 #six #but this would qualify too.

I enjoyed this cute story about a teen boy who is really struggling with his newfound life. His dad leaves after announcing he‘s gay; he and his mom are broke and he‘s living in a new home and attending a new school. In any other world he seems to have the most unbelievable luck but he needs all the luck he can get. #LitsyByTheNumbers #6 #six #lbtn

Thanks to @Suzze for cluing me in that this book exists with her #six post for #Novemberbythenumbers. I got this from the library (first time in a while for an actual PHYSICAL library book) so I could read the footnotes. I loved this but will also be sad if it‘s the last one in the series.

Jess7 I really liked the tagged book that she wrote. Someone recommended The Spellman Files - series to me. I bought the first one, but haven‘t started it. Is this one of them? Do you like her series? Have you read the tagged book? 7y
Pamwurtzler @Jess7 The Last Word reads like it‘s the last book in the Spellman Files series to me. I liked them all. I have not read The Passenger but just added it to my TBR based on the synopsis in GR. Thanks for the tip! #blameitonlitsy 7y
Pamwurtzler @Jess7 I forgot to ask - is it full of footnotes? Should I read the physical book or will it work on kindle? 7y
Jess7 I don‘t recall any footnotes. I read it this summer. I read half of it in physical book form from my library and switched to Kindle when my overdrive hold came in. It was a quick read and very suspenseful. 7y

#NovemberbytheNumbers #six

One of my favorite Fantasy series! The Earthsea series is 6 Books although I‘m fudging a bit, because one is a collection of short stories. 😊

A Wizard of Earthsea, The Tombs of Atuan, The Farthest Shore, Tehanu, Tales of Earthsea, and the Other Wind.

I can‘t recommend them highly enough!!

BethM I adore fantasy and I've never read her. I think that may be blasphemy of some kind. 7y
DivaDiane @BethM If you ask me, you are in for a treat! That said, some people can‘t get into her pacing. It‘s quite slow, but there‘s so much packed in there! They are pretty brief though! (edited) 7y
BethM I know she's written a lot- what would suggest that I start with? 7y
DivaDiane Do you prefer Fantasy to Science Fiction? If so, The the Wizard of Earthsea is the place to start. For Science Fiction I‘d say start with the Lathe of Heaven (which I‘m rereading ATM) or maybe a collection of novellas called Four Ways to Forgiveness. 7y

I was going to pick a different #novemberbythenumbers day #six since this is already so popular but it also fits #noteworthynovember #criminals so two birds one stone? 😊

This short story collection has so much great stuff in it, including the pictured story, which is one of the best sf stories I‘ve ever read. Haven‘t listened to this podcast version yet.
