Spending the last few days of my annual leave in the South Lakes, I've visited bookshops in Carnforth and Grange-over-Sands, and tried to visit one in Cartmel, but it was shut, so I had to content myself with buying sticky toffee puddings and custard from the Cartmel pudding shop 🍮😋
The book on the left is a beautiful 1967 Folio Edition of The Song of Songs bound in (I think) salmon-pink silk.

Bookwomble The burgundy book is a neat, slipcased Collins Clear-Type Press anthology, The Way of Poetry, 1945-ish - perhaps earlier, as it's clearly not War-economy paper.
A study of Myths by K. K. Ruthven, which apart from my interest in the subject matter I bought for the author's surname, with its suggestion of vampirism! 🧛🏻‍♂️ (I apologise to any Ruthvens seeing this.)
3 short stories by Theodore Sturgeon, with groovy 1967 cover art by Alan Aldridge.⬇️

Bookwomble Ghosts from the Library is an anthology of rarely collected spooky tales by classic mystery writers, including Arthur Conan Doyle's first submitted story, which wasn't published until 2000, along with Agatha Christie, Daphne du Maurier, Josephine Tey, etc.
In the mix is a bar of orange chocolate and a florentine 🍫, and a selection of Lake District bookmarks 🔖

LeahBergen Mmm, puddings! And you know I‘m a fan of the souvenir leather bookmarks. 😆 8mo
batsy Lovely bookmarks and I've had my eye on Ghosts from the Library! 👻 8mo
Bookwomble @LeahBergen I've struggled to find town-specific examples, which is a shame, but these general Lake District ones are nice and colourful 😊 8mo
Bookwomble @batsy It does look interesting, and it's a "special edition" in a series of "rare" mystery stories called Bodies from the Library, which may have also caught your eye ?? 8mo
