June Makle AKA Syedha Shakur grew up in Ellicott City, MD. FEBRUARY is a story of a teen-aged girl who had her childhood stolen from her, when she got raped by the popular neighborhood jock. The story is based on real life events that occurred; however, the names have been changed to protect the identities of those involved. Unfortunately, many teen-aged girls are raped by people they know and trust; but, never tell anyone what has happened to them. Likewise, those who have committed these types of offenses arent brought to justice; however, they have created children which they in turn deny (do not acknowledge as their own). Ultimately, children who have been created through such offenses grow up living with the shame of the reality of how they were created. FEBRUARY has been written to help heal the wounds of those Women and Children who have had to live with this reality. Ms. Makle is currently developing a website for children who have been denied by their parents so that they will have a forum to release their pain and shame; and, be able to live peaceful, happy, and productive lives.

Today, I‘m sharing the books I read in February and the movies I watched. In February, I decided to start watching movies on Friday nights again because I like watching movies but I don‘t watch them very often. I didn‘t like the first book I read this month. I bailed on 2 books because they weren‘t for me but I liked the other books I read and I liked the movies I watched. I feel like I chose some good movies to watch.

February was a very up and down month, especially the second half of it.

Read 19 books but went from 399 pages a day in January to 250 in February, that‘s a big difference!

suvata I keep blaming my slump on the fact that it was a short month. LOL 3w
Andrew65 @suvata Not sure what‘s to blame for my second half of February. Let‘s blame being in the midst of Winter. 3w
suvata @Andrew65 Yep, that works too. But I can‘t blame it on that because I live in Florida. 3w

On the opposite note...not pictured is Of Feathers and Thorns and that book was so awful I guess I forgot to add it to the template.

Ridiculous start to #fabulousfebruary with six hours of pediatrician (kiddo‘s raging ear infection is now a raging DOUBLE ear infection) and trying to find a pharmacy to fill the new antibiotics prescription and then have the dr change the prescription because nobody can get the other one…but during the #readathon I hope to finish Dear Martin, catch up on Middlemarch, keep up with Plato at the Googleplex, and read one other book. 🤞🏻

wanderinglynn Oh no! That really sucks. I hope your kiddo feels better soon. 💚 2mo
DivineDiana Sounds like life is challenging right now. Be gentle on yourself. The books will wait for you. ❤️ 2mo

kspenmoll I hope your little one is healing now. 1mo
ravenlee @wanderinglynn @DivineDiana @Megabooks @Andrew65 @TheBookHippie @kspenmoll thank you all for the positive energy. Kiddo is FINALLY off the antibiotics and seems just fine. Still busy as can be, but getting back to normal. 1mo
TheBookHippie @ravenlee UGH I had that as a child so severe but I‘m allergic to antibiotics so it was a real struggle. I still have panic attacks thinking about it!! Poor thing. I feel for ya! 1mo
ravenlee @TheBookHippie you‘re allergic to antibiotics?! Oh my goodness! My mom is very allergic to penicillin and all its family members, and I‘m sensitive to amoxycillin, so I was really nervous about her being on augmentin (which I didn‘t know was amoxycillin). Luckily, she doesn‘t seem to have inherited my drug reactions, which is a big relief, especially given her recent experiences. 1mo
TheBookHippie @ravenlee I‘m allergic to-are ya ready?!- ALLLL the cillins penicillin amoxicillin Clindamycin… Valium, codeine, Tylenol, Benadryl, ascorbic acid & derivatives, hydrocodone, benzodiazepines, I think that‘s it..😝😵‍💫😅 1mo
ravenlee @TheBookHippie yowzers! I have a hard enough time being allergic to Tylenol and sensitive to amoxycillin! Do you constantly get the “nobody is allergic to Tylenol! It‘s the universal painkiller!” like I do? You must be a medical expert just to work on your own behalf. 1mo
TheBookHippie @ravenlee I am an expert and yes both my kids also allergic to Tylenol- ppl are you sure- um yes we are sure!!! Oh- did you see the recent connection to autism with Tylenol? I‘m going to see what it is or if it‘s just conspiracy … 1mo

My #bookspin list for February! January was a success, but now that‘s I‘m back in school, we‘ll see how February goes. 😂 I may be playing a little catch-up this summer. ☺️ This month I added a FOURTH reading challenge (Barnes & Noble) and squished Litsy and GoodReads TBRs into one prompt so I have some leeway. Clwojick Because I'm a planner, and I'm always thinking way too far ahead, just curious what the plan is for #MiddlegradeMarch this year? Is there going to be another “optional theme“ this year, or just read whatever floats your boat?

sblbooks @Clwojick there's not a theme this year. I just was working on my TBR and noticed that they're all backlist books, so you could go with that if you want to.😁 2mo

Jadee Hi would you mind explaining what book spin is please? I‘d like to try but no idea what it is or what to do :) 2mo
JackOBotts @Jadee - I will tag you in one of the host‘s posts, but it‘s essentially a monthly challenge where you create your own list of 20 titles/themes/etc. and then the host - @TheAromaofBooks - picks 2 numbers at random and those are the books we read for the month - or try to…I always end up with a backlog that I just slowly work through. It‘s low pressure and fun to see everyone‘s lists. (edited) 2mo

All the Feb wrap-ups I‘ve missed. For the month I read 18 books/4188 pages (not including ongoing reads), 6 NF and 3 books by Black authors (short on that goal). In #FabulousFebruary I read my four planned plus two more books, and in #20in4 I beat my 20-chapter goal by (finishing a book with long chapters and starting one with teeny ones) reading 52!
