(1975) The nearby star Briareus Delta goes supernova, after which humanity becomes barren and a few develop psychic gifts. One crackpot conjectures that Earth has been invaded by Briareans. It's a pretty good piece of seventies science fiction, with trippy ideas about group consciousness, free love, and the soul. Dated but interesting.

It‘s been slow going for me with the second book in the Lightless series. Supernova essentially picks up where Lightless left off, and it‘s been tough remembering all that happened in the first book. I started off strong earlier this year with my list of books for this year‘s Eclectic Readers Mad Libs Reading Challenge, but February and March left me way off track. Getting back into it with a book I‘ve been eager to read for a long while now, Supernova. I read the first book in this series during last year‘s reading challenge. The second item in the 2018 Eclectic Readers Mad Libs Reading Challenge calls for a title that is an exclamation. Tough category to fill, and I even though I looked for a book with an “!” in it, I decided I could certainly justify something as big and powerful as a supernova for this.
