#TBRtrmptation post! Elianna is a girl crushed by guilt after her only brother is killed while in her care. She goes to work in her father's textile business when more tragedy strikes. Her talent for design brings success, but her work unravels & she breaks off a betrothal to the only man she'll ever love. Then illness strikes & no one can cure her. Then she hears of a man, she touches his robe, & the rest is history. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Redjewel_7734 I love stories that give life & depth to women who are often so invisible in our history and mythologies. One of my favorites is The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. 8y
SaraFair A cool backstory! 8y

rubyslippersreads I read this as an ARC and really liked it. Pair with 8y
ValerieAndBooks I read this and enjoyed it, although I felt there was a lot of white-washing -- in that both Josephine and Wyatt were a lot more rough around the edges in real life. 8y
ValerieAndBooks @rubyslippersreads thanks for your recommendation! I've stacked that one. 8y
rubyslippersreads @ValerieAndBooks I'm sure they were. 😏 8y

#TBRtrmptation post! This #truecrime book showed up per patron request. Sounds great! Prohibition, 1933. It's American gangsters' heyday. Bank robberies, kidnappings, bootlegging, are all commonplace. George "Machine Gun" Kelly set his sights on rich oilman Charles Urschel (notice the author's last name?). What follows is a 2,000-mile chase with novice J. Edgar Hoover leading the pursuing authorities. Sounds great! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?

Bookzombie Oh! I read this one. It was pretty good. 🙂 8y

#TBRtrmptation post! This thicker Japanese crime thriller has made waves. For 5 days in January 1989, the parents of a Tokyo 7-year-old listened to her kidnapper's demands. They would never find out his identity. They would never see her again. For 14 years, the public never forgave the authorities for their failure. For 1 week in 2002, a press officer noticed an anomaly in the case. Which would uncover something huge. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

#TBRtrmptation post! Catchy title, isn't it? This is a step-by-step guide to teach kids from 3 to 23. While teaching them the math & the vocabulary is good, perhaps the most critical part is teaching values--delayed gratification, working hard, living within means, a good education, acting generously toward others. Allowances & after-school jobs aren't Holy Grails. When give them a credit card? A wad of cash? Answers! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

#TBRtrmptation post! BFT was an accomplished ghostwriter & book researcher. She started as a research assistant in the '80s for Bob Woodward, & then helped him write "Veil", about the CIA. Then she helped Carl Bernstein with his memoir, "Loyalties". Then legendary editor Ben Bradlee with his autobio, "A Good Life". And then Hillary Clinton with "It Takes A Village", for which HC infamously didn't give BFT credit. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
