DC Super Hero Girls: Finals Crisis | Shea Fontana

Today, for #tiaratuesday, Princess Ellie wanted to show off her favorite book of the moment. Yesterday, her Super Hero Girls action figures staged an elaborate reenactment of this storyline that lasted more than an hour.

Ellie cannot read well on her own yet, but as an auditory learner, can memorize just about any story we read to her! We ❤️ audiobooks!

The Quiet Enemy: Stories | Cecil Dawkins

I'm thoroughly enjoying the second story in this this collection on a stormy evening. Dawkins has quite a fascinating way with words. I want to be her friend.

shawnmooney Oooooh, is that the one with the characters Jimmy and her husband Burt the Trader? If so, that was probably my favorite in the book! 7y

saresmoore @shawnmooney Yes! Good memory! It was weirdly wonderful, with tangents into meta reflection and characters described so vividly to begin with, then left undeveloped. The story felt unfinished, but I suppose that's the only way it could have been, given the subject matter. Her quirky descriptions and long sentences are reminding me of Elspeth Barker a bit. saresmoore @andrew61 She's a wonderful writer with a really unique storytelling style. She was a friend & contemporary of (and more or less mentored by) Flannery O'Connor. Her writing is based mostly in the American South (Georgia) & Southwest (New Mexico). 7y

Van Gogh Cafe | Cynthia Rylant

Today we are imagining and depicting the unseen fourth wall from Van Gogh's bedroom in the yellow house. Or I should say, "Monsieur Vincent's" bedroom, as the Arles locals would have called him, right @Libby1 ?

Our spring poem for today referenced a lark, so we'll go off on a musical tangent, too. Formal lessons can wait, right?

It might be closed for new sign-ups through May, but there is a ton of great info on the site. Another site is love is brightly.com —loads of book recommendations! I swear by it! 7y
