I've heard a lot of negative opinions about this book, but I'm a little bit in love with the songs from the short-lived musical version. #UnderTheBridge #LyricalApril

Cinfhen It's a musical?!? Didn't know that?!? (edited) 8y

I've always found I can concentrate better with background noise so I usually listen to music while I read. Nowadays it tends to be classical but when I was younger (and didn't find lyrics distracting) my latest musical tastes provided a soundtrack for my reading. As a teenager I read The Stand during my RHCP obsession and now the two are eternally linked in my head #underthebridge #lyricalapril @Cinfhen

Cinfhen I love when books & songs are attached to memories of our past 💞🎵💞 8y
saresmoore Unsurprisingly, I also had a RHCP infatuation as a teen. I remember being so embarrassed when my dad asked me if I understood the meaning of "Californication". ? Ugh. ? Yes, Dad! 8y
Moray_Reads @saresmoore ? "yes, dad, but let's NOT talk about it, okay?" The first concert I ever went to (at 15) was RHCP in Hyde Park with 4 friends and 90,000 other people. Caught the train down stood in the rain for 9 hours (thanks London), train back and school the next day. It was fantastic 8y
saresmoore @Moray_Reads That sounds AMAZING! I can't imagine ever letting my daughters do something like that in today's world. I went to so many unsafe and unsavory, unsupervised concerts. Those were the days! 8y
Moray_Reads @saresmoore It took many weeks of persuading before my parents agreed but you're right, I don't think they would have let me today 8y

I had hoped to think of a more creative pick today... but it's Friday and that just didn't happen. Maybe tomorrow. #LyricalApril #UnderTheBridge

Cinfhen I'm happy you didn't strain yourself and this book is a real gem 💕 8y
hes7 @Cinfhen Glad to hear it's a good one, since it's been stuck on my TBR for a while now. I'll have to make time for it so. 8y

My hometown, Pittsburgh, is known as the city of bridges. With three rivers, those bridges are all over the city! And authors have been setting books in Pittsburgh for ever and a day. #underthebridge #lyricalapril

celtichik I love your hometown. I could shop in the Strip for days! 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @celtichik It's pretty awesome! I moved away a long time ago, but it'll always be my hometown. 👏🏻 8y
celtichik I lived for years and years in and around Philadelphia. Pittsburgh has the same feel but so clean, and the people are so nice! Everyone is always ready to strike up a conversation, even in museums. Such a friendly city. And the food... 8y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @celtichik I live in Lancaster now, after a long time outside PA. There's so much to appreciate in both cities! (And I remember when Pittsburgh wasn't so clean ...) 8y
Ericmanciniwriter Great book! I have family in Pittsburgh and have always wanted to visit 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Eamann You should! And I can't believe I haven't read Mysteries. 8y
ReadingEnvy I stayed at the Hyatt at the tip of the land in the middle a few years back. Fun city! 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @ReadingEnvy Downtown is fantastic - we stayed there for a conference a few years ago. Usually we stay out further so we can be closer to family. 8y
Cinfhen Love this graphic and I too have always wanted to visit Pittsburgh ~ my hubby took the kids when they were doing the college tours. High praise from my crew🙂 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen Thanks - you should visit sometime. I take it the kids picked colleges elsewhere ... 8y
