The Body in the Back Garden is a well-written “queer cozy mystery” with engaging characters and a compelling mystery, set in a charming small town on an island that in real life is now one of the areas plagued with wildfires
A good summer read, but nothing to write home about. The pacing kept the story moving, and I was intrigued by the plot. However, the writing left something to be desired. Something about the narrator‘s tone rubbed me the wrong way, and there are a lot of clichés and predictable moments. None of the characters seemed “real,”‘and the twist was so wildly unbelievable, it took away from the story. Very readable, but not sure it was worth reading. 2⭐️
Not for everyone, but I loved reading multiple local perspectives on such a relevant and important topic. #VancouverIsland #TruthandReconciliation #Indigenous
