“There are two roads which human beings can follow, one of wisdom and the other of ignorance. The path of the masses is the path of ignorance which leads them into negative situations, thoughts and deeds. These in turn lead to ill health and sorrow in life. The other road is based on wisdom and it leads to health, true happiness and enlightenment.”

Cinfhen Wise words if maybe a little simplistic. Life doesn‘t always work that way 😜 6y
LiterRohde @Cinfhen It was a walk (journey) quote written by Egyptians. And admit it, it sounds like every self-help book out there today - Think Positive! Follow Yours Dreams! So, we are still Walking Like Egyptians. And, of course, life doesn‘t work that way. I‘m a great person. The quintessential nice guy. And my life has basically gone to shit. 6y
Cinfhen I‘m really sorry to read that. I don‘t know you outside of Litsy but you do seem like the “quintessential nice guy” I‘m truly sorry you‘re feeling like life kicked you in the face. I hope whatever it is that‘s bringing you down gets resolved immediately so you‘ll see happier days. 6y
LiterRohde @Cinfhen No worries. After awhile it just becomes the new normal. Just agreeing with your first quote. And I find it funny that people are still today spouting the same platitudes as the Egyptians did thousands of years ago. Seriously, couldn‘t you imagine Tony Robbins reading that quote to an audience today? 6y
BarbaraBB Wishing you the best, nice guy, I hope life will take a turn for the best for you soon 🍀💚 6y

#WalkLikeAnEgyptian This is my favorite Egyptian themed book. While not as celebrated as Lord of Light, I think it's just as good.

#WanderingJune @cinfhen @BarbaraBB

Cinfhen I‘m curious about this one!! I‘ve never really delved into the Egyptian Gods. Is this a straightforward read? 6y
RamsFan1963 @cinfhen Its science-fiction version of Egyptian Gods set in the future, but Zelazny had done his research. I read a non fiction book on Egyptian mythology, The Complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt, and Zelazny was pretty spot on in his depiction. I also recommend that book if you're interested in Egyptian Mythology. 6y
Cinfhen Hmmmm, I‘m thinking this might not be for me 🤪 6y

These Grayson Sherbrooke Otherworldly Adventures are awesome novellas, where he gets to solve a minor mystery, while being able to see and interact with ghosts of the past. In this one, he‘s transported back to Egypt!

Cinfhen I feel like this book would tick a lot of prompt challenges. And I like that it‘s a novella 💛 6y
BarbaraBB Sounds good! 6y

#WalkLikeAnEgyptian

In 1930 a group of 5 young archaeologists set out to excavate the site of Tell el Amarna, taking the author of this memoir with them as field secretary. Mary Chubb describes her time there with wonder, living in a house “where Nefertiti must once have walked and talked”.

TheBookStacker Hah yes I am an archaeologist, my main focus was Roman and early prehuman but now I‘ve recently gotten a job in archaeology for American Indians. My favorite book I‘ve recently read is 6y
LeahBergen @TheBookStacker How cool! And this book sounds like something I need (I minored in Physical Anthropology in university 😄). 6y
TracyReadsBooks @Cinfhen Yes, I‘m here! We have a week of hosting local elementary & middle school students for a day of archaeology & then our excavation gets under way next week. Archaeology books—Amelia Peabody of course, Michener‘s The Source which was what everyone read in the 80s/90s before coming, Agatha Christie‘s stand alones set in the Middle East, Lives in Ruins which is a more recent NF look at the lives of archaeologist (& an interesting read). 6y
Cinfhen Welcome @TracyReadsBooks !!!! It must be SO HOT!!!! How long are u here for?? I read and loved Michener‘s The Source!! Almost 900 pages!!!!!!! The other book sounds fascinating 6y
