MrBook @MyBookSwapClub Our library mascot for the past 35 or so years ☺️. She wandered up to the library as if pre-ordained and was readily accepted by staff and patrons alike. I was told the library held a 20-year anniversary party for her and over 1,000(!!!!) attended the celebration of our beloved shelled reptile. Biggest event in the library‘s history after the main building‘s grand opening. She has endeared quite a following. 😌 🐢 4y

The second surprise greeting I got this morning coming back to work was #Yertle! She was checking out the kids books when I was walking by and asked, “Yo, how was #BookExpo, Mr. Jay?” It was mighty fine, Yertle, it was mighty fine. 😁

Emily92Bibliophile Sometime this summer our children's department is going to get a turtle also! We will have the kids vote for a name, and it will be our library mascot/ pet turtle ! 🐢 😍 I grew up going to the same library I work at now, and at that time for about 15 some odd years we had a pet Iguana- I think his name was Silverstein because he had a sliver/ Grey stripe 7y

rustoryhuf When I worked in a public library children's room, we had a pet rabbit. His name was Nightshade and he loved to eat dog bones, chew on book spines, and was litter trained. Unfortunately part of "other duties as assigned" included that litter box. 7y
