“Everybody dies, everything ends—but not now. Not now.”

This book covers the end of the world as we know it, or at least the end of humanity, and how that may come to pass. Chapters feature ways we‘ll go out like pandemics, nuclear weapons, climate change, overpopulation, war, cosmic events and more. Far from depressing, this was a fun look at the way humans have thought about the end of times over many years, through books, movies, etc.

AmyG Sounds fun 😳🤣 3d
JenniferEgnor I was thinking about checking out this book when I saw it… 3d
Chelsea.Poole @amyg ok, maybe the “fun” in my review wasn‘t the right word 😂 3d

I finally found the motivation to begin my reading journey for the year in this delightfully unexpected little book. The writing style was unique and it truly felt like a relic from another world plagued by a terrible calamity. The themes of disease and the struggle to determine cause and cure are accentuated by the brutal imagery of the zombies being autopsied while still “alive.“

I did not participate in the Good Omens kickstarter campaign as I wasn‘t aware of it until around the time the accusations against NG became public. If there are any littens who have contributed to the campaign, Terry Pratchett Estate posted an update that NG will not be receiving any proceeds.

In this sequel to “Dead of Night,” we continue the story of what happened to a small Pennsylvania town after a serial killer, Homer Gibbon, is lethally injected by a deadly virus and thus goes on a bloody rampage, infecting others and ultimately bringing about a zombie apocalypse.

Not what I was expecting from the description and marketing, but the production quality is great and it‘s addictive as hell.

I liked this. Most of the story takes place in the year following an EMP attack. It‘s how a rural mountain community is able to gather and ration what they have and work as hard as possible to survive impossible conditions. Many don‘t survive and there is a lot of violence. Not the most polished writing, but the story is thought-provoking and engaging. And bleak, especially near the end. It inspired some great conversations with my family.

ItsAnotherJen Such a good series! My dad recommended it to me, and it was fun to have something to talk to him about since we usually don't read the same books 4mo
