I cannot tell you how much I loved American Gods & The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I very nearly had my love tattooed on my body (in the form of forget-me-nots done in a chain around my left wrist, like the goddess Easter).

This developing story continues to be so sad, upsetting, & disappointing. While Pavlovich is not the “perfect victim,” I think it‘s undeniable that he has continually & harmfully misused his power.

mcipher Agreed, it was horrible to read 2w
DebinHawaii I am so disappointed. 🤬 2w
Soscha Men though. This has been a matter of course for years. The #metoo has opened a lot of eyes & sadly scorn from the 🏹 2w

Chrissyreadit I just learned about this today- and then just finished reading this article you shared. I‘m horrified to learn about this and still processing the grossness of it and my own divorce from being a fan. 2w
BethM There‘s been a lot of complicity in covering this up. The internet is rife with stories about women being warned away in the 90s at cons etc. 2w
monalyisha @Chrissyreadit If you‘re inclined towards nonfic at all, the tagged was an interesting and earnest discussion. I‘m still processing, too! And I‘ve had months at this point. I think you never truly finish when it‘s someone whose work you‘ve really loved. 2w
DaveGreen7777 I‘m right there with you. ☹️ Good Omens is one of my favorite novels of all time, and quotes by Gaiman from multiple works have stayed with me for years. I used to cherish his work, but now I never want to hear another word from his deceitful and disgusting mouth! 🤮 I feel so bad for his victims who lived with this pain for years. 2w
AlaMich His narration of Neverwhere is (was?) my all-time favorite audiobook. But now I think that hearing his voice will just be creepy AF. 😞 (edited) 2w
Chrissyreadit i‘ve tagged your recommendation. Thank you. This is all very disheartening on so many levels. 2w
Chrissyreadit @BethM I had no idea of any of this- and am sad it has been known about and hidden away for so long. 2w
Tamra 😒 2w
Tamra 😒 not a huge fan, but I loved the screen adaptation of Good Omens. 2w
ChaoticMissAdventures I worry there will be no real consequences. That he will hide away for a bit, and then put out a book in a couple of years and people will just accept that he is a “bad person“ but they love his talent so much they cannot miss reading his next thing. The article by Vulture was distressing even as someone in the book world who knew he was to be avoided. (edited) 2w
Clare-Dragonfly Thanks for sharing that link. This is so depressing. Why do so many authors of books that mean so much to me turn out to be awful people? I also had plans for a Neil Gaiman tattoo—glad I hadn‘t done it yet. 2w
BethM @ChaoticMissAdventures I think you‘re probably spot on. 2w
BookBr I couldn‘t bring myself to read this article and get all the surely horrific details. I‘m with @Clare-Dragonfly — why are people? It‘s so absolutely wretched, really. 2w
JacqMac I‘ve been trying to process it for months. This article made it even more fresh and horrible. I don‘t know that I can even express what I feel. But I am getting so tired of being disappointed by people. 2w
BiblioLitten It is deeply distressing. I cringe to think that his books were always an auto-recommend for me. 2w
Suet624 I had no idea about any of this until I read the article this morning. It‘s so disturbing. 1w

Working in the justice system I‘ve had a front row seat to a lot of injustices - both to victims and offenders (and offenders who shouldn‘t be offenders), so I‘m always hesitant to weigh in at the first information. If you haven‘t read the full article, do but know it‘s graphic. He isn‘t disputing the events happened just consent. There‘s enough smoke that I feel confident the fire was real for a long time and a lot of people knew. Beyond sad.

Hooked_on_books I read a long form article back when the initial accuser came forward and he appeared to exhibit a clear pattern of behavior, so I‘m not surprised. This kind of behavioral pattern doesn‘t happen in a vacuum. The more we move to value women and stop socializing boys to believe they can do whatever they want, the better this will get (though, of course, women can be abusers, too). 2w
BethM @Hooked_on_books I agree. I can‘t fix the damage done by our parents to my generation of men but I can sure as hell make sure my son is a better version. 2w
Hooked_on_books We need more women like you making that commitment. We all know wonderful men who would not do these things, proof that it is possible! 2w

DaveGreen7777 This is beyond disgusting and disappointing! 🤮 For years I thought Neil was one of the good ones, only to find out he was just really good at hiding what he really was through his public persona. ☹️ 2w
AmyG Exactly @BethM ….my son and DIL said the same thing. This man is a predator. I was horrified by the article. And I was sadly disappointed by Amanda Palmer. 😢 (edited) 2w
Darklunarose This is highly disappointing, but we shouldn‘t be shocked.makes you wonder how many more predators are hiding in plain sight. 2w
Soubhiville I started to read the Rolling Stone article released today and had to stop, it‘s too disturbing. I‘m so disappointed that someone so trusted had this lurking behind the scenes. 2w
5feet.of.fury The Vulture article is ROUGH. I agree @Hooked_on_books pattern of behavior.. not just in what they are alleging but how the interactions came about… complete power imbalance. Yuck. 2w
BethM @AmyG I have never heard of her, but the complicity is not surprising. 100% guarantee she‘s been his victim too, and is working to prevent losing access to their son. Prior to this who would‘ve believed her? So easy to take that kid from her then. And honestly- this is pretty typical behavior from the family of sex offenders (which is what he is), but I wish it wasn‘t. 2w
BethM @Darklunarose a lot is the answer. 2w
BethM @Soubhiville @5feet.of.fury what is the most disappointing is the ease with which he felt protected. People knew. They had to have. It‘s sort of like the diddy thing- there are many others involved in the cover up. I‘d put money on it. I wish the behavior itself floored me but honestly I‘ve been exposed to too much over my career for this to even hit the halfway terrible mark. But the dichotomy of the public/personal persona is next level. 👇 2w
BethM I‘ve worked with less than 5 sociopaths in my time, it‘s not as common as you would think, but I think he would probably fit the bill. 2w
Darklunarose @BethM yep. A heck of a lot out there. 2w

There are but a few near-perfect novels that have ever been written. Of course we don't all agree on what they are. It takes reading thousands of pages to find near-perfects - which I will just refer to here as marbles because they are complete, polished, both ethereal and hardened, and have mysterious depth. Some are never found. This is a found marble.

My third and final day of my short story marathon, andI‘m officially 15 books ahead of schedule and 16 books to make my reading goal for the year. This weekend has been a lot of fun and I found a lot of great stories in doing this. COMPLETELY RECOMMEND doing a short story marathon. You never know what you might find.

An adult fairy tale about a young man who promises to bring a fallen star to the woman he thinks he is in love with.

Turns out the star is a young woman - the daughter of the moon.

It's always a pleasure listening to Gaiman narrate his own books.

The extras at the end were great!

‘A humble young monk and a magical, shape-changing fox find themselves romantically drawn together.‘

A story of star crossed lovers and the journey one will attempt to save the other‘s life.

This was a really good story with some fantastically haunting illustrations.
