KAO I once visited this bookstore in the 1980s to meet Ray Bradbury, who was promoting new editions of some of his books! Stashed somewhere, I have a photo of myself with him! 5mo
AmyG @KAO That is amazing. 5mo

I had an excellent birthday yesterday! I conquered one of my biggest fears and drove to San Francisco by myself just to visit the famous City Lights Bookstore.(It's only a 2 hour drive away but a hectic city to drive in!) It has a very fascinating history behind it, but long story short it's famous for publishing Allen Ginsberg's Howl. It was a lot smaller than I was expecting but still cool and worth the trip. I'm happy with my little haul 🤗

NeedsMoreBooks Happy belated birthday! 🎂 5y
Tamra You are my hero! I despise city driving too. Happy Birthday. 🎉 5y

Happy Independent Bookstore Day!!!!

tournevis Did you see where in the store it says Shakespeare & Co? I'm trying to verify something in the book I'm reading. I know the façade of S & Co says City Lights Books on the left most window already, from memory. 5y
Booksnchill @tournevis so sorry, I just saw this and won‘t be back but I‘ll look at my pictures and see if I caught it 5y

Had to go with this one for #howl. It was my first introduction to the beat poets when a high school junior read it at a poetry slam I attended. #itwasthe90s #howl #octoberxfiles
