The characters are so loveable, and Starr was so relatable for me as a black girl living in this society. Smartypants For me, Starr is right up there with Holden Caufield. The depth of each character was just beautiful. 7y

What makes it better is that for the first time ever when reading a book, I got to read about someone who looks like me and someone who has gone through some of the same things as me in terms of feeling like she can't be herself etc. I'll be forever grateful for this book! Smartypants @rhiannebrownbread I just got tears in my eyes when I read this. My son is biracial and I observe the two sides of him as he struggles with being himself too. I love this book for so many different reasons. 7y
