#bookishupdate Saturday edition
I‘m continuing with #nonfictionNovember and enjoying the three books in the top panel.
I just checked out Go Ask Alice because I have a library/Overdrive problem. Does anyone remember that Ask Alice internet thing from Columbia U health services where someone would answer sex/drug/life questions anonymously? Circa 1998?
Also I bought Fortune Smiles because it is the best #shortstory collection ever!
Flaneurette I have the same overdrive problem and Fortune Smiles really is awesome 6y
Megabooks @Flaneurette Good to know there are other elibrary lovers out there! After I checked out FS 3 times, I figured it was time to buy. 😁🤣 6y
Flaneurette I bought it in hardcover and ebook 🤦♀️😬 6y

TheBookHippie I've read Go Ask Alice several times and I do remember Ask Alice there's a book on that too. I was was old by 1998 but I remember kids using it! 6y
Megabooks @Flaneurette I was considering picking up the audiobook on Audible. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ 6y
Megabooks @TheBookHippie Yeah, I was a freshman in college then and my roommate‘s bf went to Columbia and introduced it to us. I think they did turn some of the questions into a book. It was a Dear Abby for the 14-22 set. (edited) 6y
AlaMich GAA scared the bejesus out of me as a tween! 6y
jenreads7 My library doesn‘t have Overdrive. 😭😭😭 To compensate somewhat, I have discovered the joys of Prime Reading and am doing a cheap trial of Kindle Unlimited. *sigh* 6y
Megabooks @AlaMich I think that was the point from reading the history of the book. It was the 70s version of Beyond Scared Straight. 6y
Megabooks @jenniferajanes Oh no! I have Prime reading and do use it from time to time, but I couldn‘t imagine not having Overdrive!!! 😫😫😫 I hope your library gets it or Libby 🤞🏻🤞🏻 6y
AlaMich @Megabooks That‘s my understanding too. It worked!! 😱 6y
ErikasMindfulShelf I love Fortune Smiles!! I have yet to read his novel. I really need to change that! 6y
jenreads7 @Megabooks Thanks! They use something called CloudLibrary, but the selection is abysmal. 😫 6y
Megabooks @irre The Orphan Master‘s Son is really good. I did the audiobook (it‘s long), but it was amazing! He‘s become an automatic-read author for me. 6y
ErikasMindfulShelf Good to know. I need to move it up my tbr 6y
