Here's another book I've had my eye on for a #brexitbooklist I think understanding some of the sort of work people have ended up in whilst being told the country is more prosperous is a good place to start. None of these jobs are easy yet very they are badly paid. Another one I haven't read yet but I have a lot of strong feelings on care work in particular especially after the care ministers comment recently

quirkyreader There is a similar book that came out in the States called Nickeled and Dimed. I would like to see how the stories of the workers in both book share the same struggles and obsticals. 7y
Weaponxgirl @quirkyreader I actually own both books with that exact thing in mind. A big difference I can think of would be we have a minimum wage that includes waiters ect. To me a tip should be about thanking great service not topping up someone's wages so they can afford to live. Although I think there's plenty of low wage jobs where people dont get tips so in all honesty I feel weird giving them 7y

This is my first pick for a book I'd like to read for a #brexitbooklist . Owen writes for the guardian and I loved he's other book chavs. I think this title says it all really. Also I'm really feeling sick about the May- trump meeting and the implications of any negotiations for a trade deal some of the possibilities have been a bit worrying to read about for the uk #holdtheline

Moray_Reads Nothing says "I'm a strong leader" like holding hands with a fascist. Nothing says "I'm a strong female leader" like holding hands with a man who assaults women. Sickening ?? 7y
Foxyfictionista This looks interesting. I haven't read Chavs yet but that looks interesting too. And yes, the May/Trump thing is pretty disgusting. 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa This one has been on my to read list for awhile, I really need to read it asap. 7y

whatthelog Are you going to do suggested books for #brexitbooklist? I would love to read more :-) 7y
Weaponxgirl @whatthelog yes hopefully 😀 I did a post a few days ago asking if anyone would be interested and saying the sort of books that I'd be interested in reading for such a list. I'm hoping to include fiction and non fiction and if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them! 😀 7y
Weaponxgirl @Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Foxyfictionista I haven't read this one yet but I've liked he's articles on the guardian a lot and I need to get to this along with other books this year! 7y
Weaponxgirl @Moray_Reads yup, you hit the nail on the head. Also like how her cozying up might make it harder for us to get a good trade deal within the Eu. You go may your really talking for ALL the people in the uk! 😒 7y
Weaponxgirl Just saw this hashtag #readoutsidethelines and I think this book totally counts 7y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Weaponxgirl I'll make it a must read this year too... then we can talk to each other about it. 7y
