This was another #auldlangspine2024 from @BennettBookworm and was a lovely gentle read. I really liked how our main protagonist Meg had a full life outside of the love interest - rich yet complex female friendships and a hard earned creative career. As someone bit obsessed with signs and fonts I loved the game Meg and Reid played wandering the city looking for interesting and lost typeface it was like a private world in the city
Who else buys the guidebooks to tourist attractions? I can‘t help myself when I love the visit.
I‘M IN LOVE!!! Wow. This is a love letter to NYC and to the written word - and as a huge fan of both of those, I am so obsessed. Clayborn is a poet; she describes the art of calligraphy in such a cool, visual way. The narrative was fun and unique and inspiring, tackling really important issues like maintaining adult friendships while also delivering a sexy romance. Here for it!!

I read Massoudy's "Calligraphies of Love" a couple of years ago, and this companion volume repeats the same winning formula of pairing a line of poetry with a calligraphic interpretation in Arabic. I still can't read Arabic, but fortunately the quotes are bilingually in English, too, and reading Arabic isn't necessary to enjoy the fluid grace of Massoudy's work (though it probably would enhance it).
