Well I wish I could have stayed up later for the #readathon but I did pretty good with some distractions! Finished three books and made progress in my audiobook and a fourth physical book. almost 11 hours of reading!
Only up early because these dogs annoyed me until I got up lol.

Not too shabby for falling asleep earlier than I thought I would.

Made it halfway through the audiobook of My Life in France, a quarter of the way through The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison, and finished two ebooks. I'm officially back to enjoying reading!

Okay, I enjoyed Conversations With Friends, and expected to do the same with Rooney‘s second book. But WOW this was something else! The dynamic between Connell and Marianne feels like it could be the subject of a psychological thesis. I couldn‘t stop reading, and I was fully invested in the lives, in the ups and downs, of the two MCs. Just wow!

JennyM Yes, yes, yes to a thesis! I read this when I was doing some workshops in CFT and couldn‘t stop applying the model to the characters. I love that you had similar thinking! 😘 9mo
Kalalalatja Oh, and this works for #taintedlove - definitely some unhealthy things going on here! #AnglophileApril @Cinfhen @Mdargusch @emilyhaldi @Reviewsbylola 9mo
Kalalalatja @JennyM I was planning which interventions I would use if I had them as clients. It was such an interesting look at a relationship, l‘m blown away at the moment! 9mo

KarenUK Ok so now I‘m even more excited to read this! @Kalalalatja @jennym @cinfhen I‘m saving this book and the tagged one for my flights to the U.K. and back later this month! Thanks ladies 👍💕 9mo
Reviewsbylola I am def reading this ASAP! 9mo
Mdargusch I‘m worried the lack of quotation marks will drive me crazy! 9mo
Cinfhen I wasn‘t blown away by this book...it was really darker than I expected 😬 9mo
Kalalalatja @KarenUK really hope you enjoy it (and your trip!!), and that I haven‘t ruined it with too high expectations 😅 @Reviewsbylola I actually think this might be right up your alley! @Mdargusch it irritated me more in her first book, but I didn‘t even notice it in this because the story distracted me. @Cinfhen kinda like a dark version of this, but then not at all 😄 9mo
Cinfhen I didn‘t like One Day at all....too saccharine 😜😜I‘m a picky reader!!! I think @Reviewsbylola and @KarenUK will both like this book more than I did but maybe not as much as you, Katja 😘 9mo
batsy I feel like I have to stop and pause every so often while reading this because I'm feeling/thinking so much with this book. 9mo
emilyhaldi I finally decided I need to buy this one, I‘m not sure I‘ll want to return it if I go the library route! 9mo
Kalalalatja @batsy it really gets your brain going! I couldn‘t put it down, but I get what you mean! @emilyhaldi I‘m so annoyed I have to give this back to the library 😫 9mo

I‘ve loved the original version for years, so I was nervous to reread it as a graphic novel. It was so wonderfully done, I shouldn‘t have been worried at all. I love that the illustrations are slightly different for Offred‘s time in Gilead, versus her memories from the past. To me, nothing is quite as powerful as reading the original text, but for fans of the book I‘d highly recommend checking out this graphic novel as well.

I‘m a big fan of Vonnegut‘s work. I loved all of his references to his hometown, Indianapolis, since I‘m from there too. This collection of commencement speeches is a bit repetitive, but still so much fun to listen to.
