The lovely @Texreader has reached a milestone! And she is kind enough to have a Giveaway. Check her page for details.

What I like most about Litsy is the community of book lovers. Everyone is so very kind and welcoming. I don‘t know how many times I have called many of you, when talking to others, my book friends. Because you are.

“Christians, especially ministers, so often think they must always contribute something when they‘re in the company of others, that this is the one service they have to render. They forget that listening can be a greater service than speaking. Many people are looking for an ear that will listen. He who can no longer listen to his brother will soon be no longer listening to God either. This is the beginning of the death of the spiritual life.”

TheBookHippie Are you listening to bear witness, are you listening to respond, is your ego listening or your heart…. 1mo
BarbaraJean @TheBookHippie YEP. Am I listening to understand? Or am I listening to shoehorn in my own opinion and push my own perspective? All questions I'm constantly asking myself as I train in spiritual “companioning.“ Real listening is SO needed right now. 1mo

I absolutely loved this book. As someone who has been in the church, my whole life and gained much from it, I love the idea of slowing down and getting back to what really matters.

4⭐️ I quite liked this book. Very introspective and informative. There were a number of things I liked about the book; would like to purchase a paperback copy when it comes out. And he mentions what he intended to say in regards to the Nikki Haley comment that lead to his firing #2024 #memoir #religion #nonfiction #politics

I wasn‘t sure at first on this book, but the more I read, I started to see a full vision of what could be. I think a lot about the type of home we are creating for my kids-the environment, stretching, encouragement, etc. This book gave some excellent guidelines and ideas to help make our home a place where our kids can thrive!

Super overdue review for my June #DoubleSpin. I read this for a spiritual direction seminar, and found a lot of it really helpful as far as the practicalities of spiritual direction—both in practicing spiritual direction with others, as well as honestly confronting your own internal habits and avoidances. A lot of it is really dated, especially when it comes to gender, but I will definitely return to it for the wisdom it offers in many other ways.

Wow.
I finished the bulk of this book in under 24 hours. I‘m not sure this has ever happened for me for a non fiction, Christian read. The author gives a compelling vision for what life could be, if we were only willing to take the bold step of becoming Jesus‘ apprentices. I loved it, it filled me with excitement and gave me tools for becoming closer to Jesus.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the Publisher for this advanced review copy.
