My first read of 2026.
I liked this, but found it a little depressing knowing the games would still be going on when Hamitch was a grown man. Very hopeless. Well written hopelessness though.

This was a really mixed bag for me. Entertaining and propulsive, it features a woman found dead in a park early in the morning, shocking because all men are subject to 7p-7a curfew and wear electronic tags. But a major character is so unsympathetic just for a sudden switchover that it reads as caricature, and the result of the murder felt like a bait and switch. Cool premise, though.

I am very excited for this list from @BennettBookworm !☺️🎊 I will be starting with either the tagged book which is on my TBR too! Or ‘The River Had Roots‘ since it‘s set in faerie! I might also jump back into the Scythe trilogy. I read the first book years ago and loved it. I have read (and ADORED!) both ‘Yellowface‘ and ‘The Wedding People‘. Thank you for such a fun list and thank you @monalyisha for holding this great event! ☺️#Auldlangspine

🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 I mentioned this in my last post about this book, but I think it's a really cool idea to have the selection from the perspective of the one choosing. Unfortunately, this results in too many good options for the main character and a monogamous marriage that she has to choose. With the first three, I knew which of the love triangle I liked. With this, I like four of the six 😭

Wow! I loved learning Haymitch‘s story. It was powerful and really brought a lot to the series. Heartbreaking but highly recommended. Great on #audio , I had to finish in 3 days to return and it was so good ghat it was easy to do. Encouraged me to get most of the Christmas decorations down while I listened.

I discovered several new favorite authors in 2025, but no one surpassed Pierce Brown. Science Fiction is my least favorite genre, and yet I listened to Red Rising 3 times last year. Keep 'em coming, Mr. Brown.

Elderly sisters are locked away in an English manor house. As we read, we are becoming more and more aware of their odd situation. The vibes are cottage core creepy. And their fragile little existence is up ended by a visitor, the first they‘ve had in decades. The sisters‘ differences and annoyances are exacerbated by this new presence. Their mother‘s influence looms large, but what‘s going on outside the walls of the garden? Loved #tob26 longlist

Snow falls on top. I‘m such a Hunger Games fan and the varying plot arcs in this had me hooked the entire time? Dr Gaul heads the hubger games with capitol student mentors, which is where snow meets his songbird love, Lucy Gray Baird. The relationship and character building (sejanus, Ma, Grandmaam, Tigris, etc) along with surprising twists is phenomenal and the story had me humming “the hanging tree” the entire time.
