Rosie Revere, Engineer | Andrea Beaty
Pickpick

This book is about a girl names Rosie Revere who dreams of becoming an engineer. She creates different inventions from different used gadgets she finds in the trash or not used from other people. Her inventions fail for the majority of the book, so she begins to get discouraged. That is until her great-great-great aunt Rosie inspires her to keep trying. Just because you fail this time, does not mean you won't succeed in the future.

Ryan_G Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty and illustrated by David Roberts is a Historical Fiction book published in 2013. This book is a New York Times Best Seller, an iTunes Top 10 Best Seller, and a 2015 Great Lakes Great Reads Award. 3w

Very sad to hear about the death of David McCullough today. He was my favorite historian and a must-buy anytime he published a new book. Posting this photo in his memory. I met him in 2015 when he was giving a presentation at Yale University (which he attended). I work at Yale New Haven Hospital around the block, bumped into him on the street and followed him into the lecture. He was warm and gracious and a wonderful speaker. RIP, Mr. McCullough.

KristiAhlers Oh this makes me sad. I‘ve always loved his books! 2mo

And done! I didn't get into it at first, and then I got to the chapter about the cathedral in Mexico City and that really piqued my attention. Agrawal does explain things well!

#BookSpinBingo progress, slow and steady. I'm currently reading Hidden Hands, The Wood for the Trees, Dreadful Company, Bitter and Ancillary Mercy, so I'm a bit all over the shop... but it's all what I planned.

Spent a good part of my lunch break infodumping at my wife about the subsidence in Mexico City and how it affected the cathedral there, because that's what I just read about.

That's how you can tell I'm enjoying a book! (And it's okay, my wife doesn't mind.)

I've spent a lot of my life worried that people will think I don't know enough. Sometimes, that worry has made me use big words when I don't need to.

The Profiteers shows how the company Bechtel has lived and thrived off US government contracts all while rotating its staff into high government office, setting up a huge conflict of interest and siphoning tax payer money into its coffers, all (semi-)legally. Good book but this makes me deeply disappointed (but not surprised) in my country.

fredthemoose Reluctantly stacking… I‘m sure the book will be great and completely infuriating 9mo

Just read Boxitects to most of my students #outloud. They got the teamwork message. For the activity they chose to read write or draw. The publisher provides fun free printables - the kids loved the page with instructions for making a box. Some students were just inspired to draw what they would build. #WCCPBA 2022 nominee

kspenmoll I love this! What grade do you teach? #teachersoflitsy (edited) 10mo
mandarchy @kspenmoll Kindergarten through 5th grade. I read the same books, but change my expectation for how they do their activities. Teacher-librarian of Litsy 10mo
