Recently was lucky enough to listen to Alison Goodman talk about her Lady Helen series, and with the impending release of the third and final book, I have dragged out my ARC (from 2016) to finally read. #eyeroll here she is, surrounded by newly repotted baby cacti 🌵 prickly as the demons she confronts. #currentlyreading #historicalya #butwithdemons #regencyera #excusemytoes

Sorry I'm a day late...but wouldn't you rather see Ed Asner portray Ove in the movie version of this great book?

Tom Hanks? Really? 🙄🙄🙄

Sarah1960 Mr Asner would be great in the role of Ove! 7y
MemoirsForMe @Sarah1960 Yes! I kept picturing him when I read it. 😊👍🏻 7y

My #eyeroll for #uncannyoctober is Morning Star by Pierce Brown. I wanted to love the Red Rising Trilogy so much and I found the first book in the series amazing. It was a worthy successor to the Hunger Games Trilogy. Unfortunately, the series didn‘t retain its momentum for me and the last book with non-stop mindless action sequences was seriously painful for me. 🙄 Hopefully the new trilogy he is writing as a continuation of the story is better!

TheBookAddict Oh no! I greatly dislike non-stop mindless action. They need to just leave that for the movies instead of the books. 7y
Pruzy @TheBookAddict Totally, trying to visualize a scene where an author is writing about kicks, spins and jumps is just clunky and repetitive 7y
TheBookAddict My thoughts exactly. Even as a teen when I would read books with scenes like that I wouldn‘t like it. My eyes would glaze over and I wouldn‘t be able to take in what I was reading...that‘s usually the case now too. 7y

Pruzy @TheBookAddict Glazing over is exactly what it is! 7y
TheRiehlDeal @Pruzy That's a shame that the trilogy went downhill after Red Rising. I have yet to read the first book, but I am going to assume it is a great read by your 5 star rating. 7y
Pruzy @TheRiehlDeal If you were a fan of The Hunger Games you will like Red Rising 7y

My #🙄 #eyeroll goes to all the people who have commented when seeing me walking and reading, “better watch out, you‘re going to run into something.” This has only actually happened once - in high school while walking and reading I walked smack into a tree. :). #uncannyoctober #readeverywhere

I think I don't like COS only because of Gilderoy Lockhart🙄🙄🙄🙄 #attraction #hpchapteraday #eyeroll

451Degrees Also what does everyone think about Hermione being attracted to Lockhart because of his supposed intelligence? 8y
Bostonmomx2 He's a weirdo for sure. Up to chapter 6 I haven't noticed Hermione being attracted to him? Am I missing something? 8y
451Degrees @Bostonmomx2 it says in this chapter (chapter 6) she drew hearts around his class on her schedule. And she's interested in his travels and books to know everything on his test. I don't know just a thought ☺ 8y

Bostonmomx2 @451Degrees yup I missed that, I don't pay enough attention when I read sometimes 😏 8y

Ruri_kaichou I did an eyeroll but I think it's normal. Here's a man who knows so much she wants to learn and he experienced so much. And to top it off, he's attractive. To Hermione's eyes he's perfect. 8y
mllemay I think Hermione is used to taking what's in books at face value, and since the things in Lockhart's books are so impressive, and he's "good-looking", it's the perfect storm for an intellectual 12 yo girl crush lol. Whereas Ron will judge something based on what's in front of him, so seeing Lockhart act around Harry and in class makes him skeptical about who Lockhart really is, no matter what he says in his books. The narrator just spent 3(ish) minutes discussing the fact that the main heroine has a "healthy appetite" and yet never gains any weight, keeping her "slim, trim waist" even when she dares to eat a grilled bratwurst. #eyeroll

MrBook Eating a grilled bratwurst with no gain? *snorts* 8y
