This book was a delight! The main character is a strong, resourceful, good-hearted woman with a witty sense of humor. Although the novel is lighthearted, there are several difficult situations and moral dilemmas which are dealt with realistically. The characters all seemed real. This is not just a “fluffy” romance. It has substance. 5⭐️

Great fun! Our heroine makes her way from Italy to post-Revolutionary France, to Regency England, outwitting various nefarious people in her life who wish to do her harm. Many adventures ensue!

It‘s on its way to you at long last, @TheAromaofBooks ! 🙄😬

I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I loved the characters, the plot of the book, and the time period it was set in. I hope to see the characters again in the other books by this author. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Obi modeling books for me today. I loved this book- and hope to read more by this author. It reminded me of a little P&P and S&S and also a sort of kind of Charles Dickens vibe but a much longer happy part of the story- hence Jane Austen‘s…. A poor but sweet girl trying to make her way in the world before and after being reunited with family. Also, romance. @julieclair this and next book will be in the mail to you tomorrow morning.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I think I ended up liking this one more than the first - it's hard to put my finger on how, but she draws me in right off the bat. I love the humor & wit she gives her characters, and the romance is a good blend of realistic and romanticized. It's clear that Irwin loves this time period, and these books feel well-researched, settled in their time period, but also contemporary.
I'm looking forward to more from this author!

I have been in a woeful reading slump, and let this sit for a month before I actually sat down and read it. As always, I love the characters, and the fact that each mystery involves some scientific/technological advance being made during the Regency. This one wasn‘t as fascinating as others in the series, but I still enjoyed it very much and continue to recommend these books.
