I really enjoyed reading about the conspiracy. They've got a pretty strong friendship/kinship going. The baths were also delightful. #fellowshipoftolkien #groupread #readalong #readalongs2020 #fantasyclassic #friendship

Today's chapter was very fun. I'll admit, I was afraid Mr. Maggot was going to turn them over or something when he insisted they stay for food! And I can't stop laughing about how worried they've all been about the sniffing. #fellowshipoftolkien #fantasyclassic #readalong #groupread #readalongs2020 #trustnoone

JazzFeathers I enjoyed this chapter a lot too. I didn't remember the episode at the Ferry. It was fun. 4y
Kenyazero @JazzFeathers That was excellent! I was so surprised by the outcome. Phew! 4y

They‘re off on their adventure, but managed to get in two more slights to the Sackville-Bagginses! There's always time for pety revenge. #fellowshipoftolkien #readalong #groupread #fantasyclassic #2020readalongs #pettyrevenge #pettyhobbit

JazzFeathers I loved that "Frodo did not offer her any tea." It says so much ? 4y
Kenyazero @JazzFeathers it's such a well placed and well-wordes slight 😆 4y
Linsy Of course! 4y

I love how much lore Tolkien slipped into these books. It also didn't escape my notice that Gandalf is notably a lore expert (having nothing to do with Tolkien's profession, I'm sure) interested in obscure lores that no one else focuses on. #fellowshipoftolkien #readalongs2020 #groupread #fantasyclassic #mythology #norsemythology

JazzFeathers I love Tolkien's cheekiness is slipping so many hits at the Silmarillion 😆 4y

There‘s so much social snark between hobbits voiced by the narrator! This chapter is a fun setup. #fellowshipoftolkien #readalong2020 #fantasyclassic #readalong #groupread #salt

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Those Sackville-Baggins 😜 always stealing the spoons! 4y

JazzFeathers I really liked the first chapter with that portrayal of the Hobbit society. Never noticed how much of the Scoring of the Shire was already planted. 4y
Kenyazero @JazzFeathers I love this setup too. I can't believe how snarky it is. It makes it very memorable! 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @JazzFeathers I noticed that this time around too... 4y
Linsy Yes! Hobbits all seem so peaceable, but the Sackville-Bagginses show that human -- or should I say hobbit? -- nature rears its head in every group. 4y

So far, I'm delighted that this book starts out with a history of hobbits. It's very characteristic of someone interested in history and inspired by mythology. #fellowshipoftolkien #fantasyclassic #classicihaventread #readalongs2020 #readalong #groupread

I haven't read this book yet (it's been on my list for a while, but I've been putting it off because I expect it to be difficult to focus on). I came across a post that #fellowshipoftolkien is starting a chapter-a-day readalong of it starting Jan 3rd. Maybe now's the time to tackle this one. #groupread #readalong #fantasyclassic #classicIhaventread

Daisey Yes, we would love to have you join us! 4y
Kenyazero @Daisey I very much look forward to it! I'm a slow reader, so I might end up falling behind, but it'll be fun. 4y
