5feet.of.fury Ugh I have this one so I want to read it but idk if I‘m mentally prepared 😩 2d
BarkingMadRead @5feet.of.fury I feel that in my soul. This one is hard 2d
Roary47 I‘m excited, but after @5feet.of.fury and @BarkingMadRead comments maybe I should prepare myself too. (Oblivious) 🤔 2d
BarkingMadRead @Roary47 it‘s so so good, but as one of his books that could technically happen, it makes it a little rough. There‘s no sci fi in this one 2d
tpixie Poor Cujo… 🐺 2d
ElizaMarie I revisited this pme via Audio recently. I could use a relisten or a reread (I got the physical copy too) it just is so gut wretching! 1d
KathyWheeler I haven‘t reread this in decades. It‘ll be interesting to reread it. 1d

kwmg40 I enjoyed this one very much. I'd read it several years ago, but liked it even more on reread, mostly because I appreciated the return of Gaspode after having read Moving Pictures since. 2w
julesG Has anyone read the short story? 2w

BarbaraJean Somehow I missed the tag for this yesterday! And I actually finished this one on time! 😆 I loved getting to know the Watch characters better, especially Vimes, Carrot, Detritus, and Angua. And I found so much of it uncannily relevant to current events in the USA. I just read the (very!) short story (on L-Space). I love that Carrot interviews Death as a witness! 2w
julesG @BarbaraJean Tagging so many at once is wonky sometimes. Yes, it's a short short story, but I liked it. I even attempted reading it in different languages. 2w
willaful @julesG I read it but I don't really remember anything other than that I enjoyed it. Oh, Barbara reminded me about the interview with Death, that was hilarious! (edited) 2w
julesG @willaful 😁 that's like me remembering Men at Arms has Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomics, his wedding and him not leaving the Watch after all. There's Carrot's first romantic encounter; and Vetinari still running the city at the end. And I could probably quote some iconic lines, both the funny and the strikingly apt ones about society/weapons/... 2w

Bookwormjillk I loved this one as a teen. I used to sit with my friend Amy trying to set things on fire with our minds for hours. It was the super power I most wanted to have when I was about 13. I still liked it on this re-read, but I thought the middle dragged a bit. Not a bad ending for King.

Also I think the first season of Stranger Things owes this book a lot!

AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk yes, I found it a similar premise to ST. I loved the story and characters. I found it quite gripping in places. 4w

5feet.of.fury @Bookwormjillk yes! I thought it ended solidly, which he sometimes just doesn‘t do lol Agree about Stranger Things too. 4w
5feet.of.fury It‘s kind of smack between Carrie and The Institute both plotwise and character/scifi focussed. This was my first read of it, I just think it‘s neat 4w
ElizaMarie Wasn't able to re-read this one - I really need to organize my reading room - I know I had a copy of it somewhere! Anyway, I remember loving this one when I first read it, and as a fellow #KingGirlie I did the same @BookwormJillK 4w
bekakins Totally agree with the comments ref ST. This is one of my absolute favourites. 4w
kwmg40 Still waiting for a library loan, but I will get to this one eventually! 3w
TieDyeDude @5feet.of.fury I found I liked this more than Carrie. I don't remember The Institute enough to compare. But, yes, it was just really neat. As much as I love when he takes the time to build a town and it's inhabitants, with this and The Shining, I'm liking his more narrowly focused stories. 3w
5feet.of.fury @TieDyeDude the Institute was pretty much Stranger Things and you got the backstory on the whole town 😂 3w
BarkingMadRead @TieDyeDude 💯 they both have their pros and cons. This is one of my faves for sure 3w
