A little zine, only 37 pages, but looks like an interesting overview of the subject. I guess it won't take long to find out 😊

Today‘s haiku is inspired by the Tsunami Warning yesterday (see previous post) which was downgraded to Advisory last night & that Advisory was just canceled this morning. We got lucky. It‘s already back to business as usual & work is crazy, so…
The morning after
The sea has mostly settled
Work is still storming…

Soft pick. I like the way Stokowski writes, it's easy-going, a bit snarky and sometimes even funny. Even though the things she writes about are not funny. More than once I found myself in the episodes of her life she shares with us. We learn how sneaky patriarchy is in our daily life and how it claims to be the right way to live. Sadly, the author looses her wit towards the end of the book.

Looking forward to the Dworkin reissues! (Great covers imo.) I‘ve read 2 of these 3, and had to read them as pdfs 🙃 so we‘re well overdue for the reprint.
From the families of Augustus to Nero, the imperial mothers, daughters & wives led male-dominated lives & their (tragic) deaths were usually a brutal punishment. The Emperors were cruel & some seemingly depraved & yet it is the women that have come in for the worst criticism.
Overall, although it was a difficult read at times due to the subject matter (misogyny & the casual cruelties women were subjected to), (continued)
This was a great book, it went into a lot of details about how much rape changes everything. I never really thought about the control some people can yield on others to infringe on their ability to vote. I don‘t know what to say really other than as a sexual assault survivor, reading this made me feel more heard.
This book has some really rough quotes in it. I‘m enjoying the way it‘s written and I feel the information in it is so important to not ignore.
The children like it better when I‘m not moving around as much.
