I intended to make retro appetizers but my week is not allowing much time for reading or the kitchen. So I'm going with retro dishes I've made on the blog & some food history from the tagged book.
Fashionable Food says simple food was out in the hedonistic 70s & everything was "gooshy" (see quote above) & International remained 'gourmet' so here's 2 dishes from The Nancy Drew Cookbook p.1973

ValerieAndBooks I still have my Nancy Drew cookbook from the 1970s! Even though I haven‘t cooked from it since then 😂! I‘ll have to look at it soon and see what I actually made from it way back then. 7y

SledgeReader @Mdargusch Ha! I forgot the baked fruit! Did you eat canned pears on a lettuce leaf with a “dollop” of mayo and grated cheese? I had to look at that $hit every night!! 7y

Cinfhen Love this!! My grandmother used to serve us baked apples with cinnamon as a dessert treat or sometimes pears on top of a pineapple ring💕 #foodmemories 7y

SledgeReader @DebinHawaii @Mdargusch Do you remember the congealed salads with cream cheese and nuts in them? Or the cool whip with pistachio pudding, nuts, pineapple and marshmallows? My mother loved that stuff. 7y
