Ah, middle school. You couldn‘t pay me to go back. I do find it funny that in seventh grade I coveted the glasses another girl had, while Rex is doing everything in his power to avoid his. 😂

Lovely MG novel - all her life, Bird has wanted 2 things: to be noticed, and go to Disney World! Winning the spelling be bee could increase her chances. Along the way, she makes some unexpected friends, and learns some amazing lessons. Great characters!

OMG it really doesn't matter if you're doing middle school back in the 80's or doing it now...the complexity of that microcosm is still the same. This was a really good read about how things change when you enter a new school with new people. Our hero confronts bullies, having a first crush and dealing with his family with a step dad and half brother and the horror of needing glasses. Truly a read you won't want your middle schooler to miss.

I did not sleep last night, for you had kissed me. You held my hand and put it to your cheek and to your breasts. And I had closed your eyes and kissed them, and taken your face in my hands and touched your lips with mine. And then, my darling, I stumbled into the light like a man intoxicated, and did not say or know what people were saying or doing …‘ Gosh! #ruskinbond #fridaynight #reading

The bookmark says it all! Took me only a couple hours to finish this book that‘s been on my TBR for 3 years. It‘s considered middle grade fantasy but I feel like it‘s more YA. Either way I absolutely adored it!

#BoundTogetherJune Day 27: There is actually a picturebook depicting lots of #sunglasses. While this is pretty text-heavy compared to other picturebooks, I really enjoyed the story development, the evident growth among the two girls, and the fun and exciting way in which the narrative unfolded. Naughty Mabel Sees It All | Nathan Lane, Devlin Elliott

4 🌟 I love that when I read this book I can hear Nathan Lane‘s voice and personality coming through. Mabel the dog has been invited for a sleepover. But after eating some potpourri she has been seeing double, and even monsters. She is going to save everyone from the monsters, as long they don‘t get her first. This was a wonderfully fun story with equally enchanting illustrations.

Today‘s shopping trip was a mix for myself and my daughter 😬 Real excited to give her the Junie B. Jones as she is starting 1st grade herself, next Monday. (Parent moment: where is time going and how do I make it slow down?)

Also had a field day in the children‘s education section 😂 The Titanic book may be more for me than her (there‘s a cd inside where you explore the titanic 😬😬😬)

IamIamIam I bought a Titanic book at the Scholastic book fair and I made it very clear that it was for me, not the kids!!! Lol, I mean, it's accessible to them but I'm the one with the obsession! 😂 Great haul, by the way! I loved 5y
MotionChickness @IamIamIam 😂😂😂Gotta love a good Titanic book!! And thanks!! Invisible Monsters was the first book in my cart 😬 I‘m excited for it! What I couldn‘t make out from the reviews on the back was whether it‘s just a dark story, or a dark humorous story? 5y
IamIamIam It's both really, so the situation is dark and that makes the humor so dark it's black. Lol, I read it at least 10 years ago so it's a bit hazy but it was definitely my 2nd favorite, behind 5y

MotionChickness @IamIamIam Good to know!! Lol I do like some dark humor. I‘ll have to put Lullaby on my list! I‘ve only read Fight Club, so I‘m a Palahniuk newbie. 😅 5y
mom2bugnbee "The days are long but the years are short" is so ridiculously true! I have a senior in HS this year & she was born yesterday. Soak in those moments, mama! 5y
MotionChickness @mom2bugnbee ugh, beyond true! We hit pre-k and then I blinked. Congrats to your senior!! I‘m sure it‘s going to be a wonderful but tough, but still wonderful, year for you; so right back at you!! Soak it all in! 5y
