Did I listen to this book in anticipation of the end of Draughtlander and because I needed some Scottish 🔥 in my life? Yes.

Does this book make up for its cheesy dumb cover with a solid histfic storyline, perfectly tolerably characters, and very sexy sexy-times? Again, yes.

Romance itch successfully scratched, though Tor MacLeod is (of course) no Jamie Fraser. 😉

What happens when two people from opposite political sides fall for each other? Set in the 1600s, as William of Orange and King James battle for Scotland and Great Britain, Colin MacGregor poses as a mercenary to get into enemy territory. He didn‘t expect to fall in love. Fun series! It‘s engaging and full of tartans and Scottish brogue. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Librarybelle This concludes my listening to romance novels during the pandemic. I will remember romance, especially Regency and Scottish, as my soundtrack to get me through the day. After 23 novels, I think I‘ve hit my quota. All enjoyable, but as someone who hasn‘t read this much romance in nearly 2 decades, it‘s time to transition to mysteries. I‘m also slowly being scheduled to go back into the library for prep work for in person service. Thanks romance! 6y
CoverToCoverGirl Scottish is my fav.. you picked many of my go to romance writers 😊.. 23 is impressive especially if you haven‘t read romance in nearly two decades.. these are strange times and it must have been just what you needed. Wishing you a safe and happy return to your library and all your wonderful readers! 📚🤗 6y

I liked this one a bit better than the previous one in the Children of the Mist series. Two former lovers are thrown together in the court of James in the late 1600s. There‘s romance, of course, but also a bit of danger and spy work. It shows a bit more of the chaos and upheavals during this time in history in the U.K. on to book four!

CoverToCoverGirl You really are on a romance roll! Lol.. Many of the ones you‘ve posted about over the last several weeks I‘ve also read or listened to, too. All are great stories written by some of my favourite romance writers. I anticipate your next selection(s). 😊😁 6y
Librarybelle Haha, thanks @CoverToCoverGirl ! My romance listening is coming to an end - I‘ll soon be heading back to the library on a regular-ish basis. I‘ve listened to so many romance audios...once I‘m back, I‘ll have to count up! 6y

This book was better than I expected. Usually when writing romance novels about near actual historical events, the relationship of the character suffers. But this book was a good balance of history, storyline, and character development.

This was a good read, a steamy romance novel with a good story, although Annalia was slightly annoying in the first half of the book.
Was really struggling for Andorra so glad I found this one 🙂
