Finished it today. I agree with lots of things he's saying about schools here in Germany. Basically it's a mess. But I still feel like he focused too much on the higher education part and forgot that we need carpenters, electricians, glaziers, etc.
All in all though I agree that we need a change and the schools he envisioned sound fun!

Finally risotto! Nobody in my family seems to care for it much, so I finally made myself some for lunch today!
@MrBook How do you make your food look so scrumptious on the photos? Or does risotto always look kind of goopy?

A very fitting ending to the trilogy!

Giving this a go:
There's this scene with Inspector Adamant thinking about his eldest son and coming to a conclusion. It's just so sad. I had to stop reading for a while 😢

ljuliel Thanks for chiming in. It‘s good when books have that ability to pull emotions from us. Signs of a good author ! And most of my favorite books were sad. I think it helps us to empathize with others and put ourselves in someone else‘s shoes. 2w
Deifio It made me laugh a couple of times, too. But you know the sad scene stuck more. 2w

I'm really tired today. 😴 So I'm going to croquet a unicorn bookmark for my nephew and then later do all the other stuff I don't want to but have to do. All while listening to my book of course!

julesG Those look gorgeous. I'm sure my library has this book. 2w
Deifio I'm only at the head of the unicorn, but so far it's pretty easy to croquet. I'm a beginner. The bookmarks are all so adorable! I want to croquet several different ones for christmas presents 🤩 2w
julesG I once made a rat bookmark. The tricky part was the stuffing, I had to cut open a pillow (cheap from IKEA) to fill the head. 2w
Deifio Very creative! 😂 2w

I remember reading another book by this author and I really liked it.
I'm curious to know what Precht wants to change in German schools. And how this will benefit the childrens motivation to learn and their curiosity. That something has to change is pretty clear though 😅

Really enjoyed it. The relationship between Harper and her stepbrother Tolliver is really interesting. Obviously Harper relies on her brother a lot. But I got the feeling that Tolliver does need her almost as much 🤔
I just don't know what's up with that cover?!

wanderinglynn I like the cover of the graphic novel version better. 3w
Deifio Imho this cover has nothing to do with the book. It's very artsy and doesn't fit with the book. @wanderinglynn what does the graphic novel cover look like? 3w
Deifio @wanderinglynn yes, definitely better! 3w

I got this from the library today. I really need a break from those short stories by Ted Chiang (too many amazing ideas)!
I've never read the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I enjoyed the True Blood TV show (up to a point ;-)

blurb
Deifio
post image

So after the first 5 stories, I kinda need a break. Don't get me wrong the stories were great! It's just that I find it very exhausting to immerse myself into a new setting and characters like every 50 pages. Funnily enough it's worse while I'm commuting. I start a story and have to stop several times then finish, start a new one, only get half way through before I'm at university. Then on the way back same thing again.
