I really enjoyed this book!
It is a sci-fi story about a commoner girl who is out for revenge on the noble family that had her mother assassinated.
She joins a tournament that is essentially space jousting on giant robotic steeds.
Synali's point of view is very sad and lonely. Her goal is to destroy the noble house that killed her mom, and then be put to rest to join her.
It ended on a cliffhanger, so I can't wait for the next book.

I‘m not sure why it took me—a book professional—so long to realize this isn‘t more fae romance…but booooooy, did I buy it fast when I found out it‘s MECHS. IN. SPACE.

I pre-ordered this book from Amazon, look at the edges! And while I thought it was fantasy, it was sci-fi.

This space opera is interesting as it‘s a revenge tale in space with giant ancient jousting robots. Jump in knowing it‘s sci-fi and you‘ll be fine!

It took me half the book to become fully invested and half a star for the cliff hanger. Now I wait for the second book in the duology. That foredge is amazing!

Audio from Libby. This story takes place on a space station; which was barely mentioned. I would also have really liked to know how this space jousting “ride and fall” works. I never felt like I could SEE what was going on. I wanted more of the mystery of the station. So much left unsettled or just mentioned once. The ending 20% brought it more together, though didn‘t land smoothly. Not sure if I‘ll read the sequel.

This book is what would happen if Gladiator and The Count of Monte Christo had a baby and then let Red Rising babysit it. Or something like that. Mech suits with a hidden secret, gladiatorial combat, a space station population desperately waiting for the planet below to be terraformed, haves (and boy do they have) & have nots, murder, revenge, & political intrigue. Yep, everything. Oh, & a touch of romance too. Entertaining tension filled read.

This is a very pretty book—the pictures don‘t do it justice.

It also starts very fast. It‘s entertaining so far.

Meghan1 I saw it at Target and I wanted it. I may have to go get it now! ❤️ 6mo

My work received the ARC of this new sci-fi epic, and I‘ve been devouring every word! Good for fans of Iron Widow and anyone who likes space, mech battles, and revenge. This comes out later this month (the 21st!) and I am so tempted to get myself the fancy edition with sprayed edges.
Also pictured: my roommate‘s new kitten, Goblin! #catsoflitsy
