Squire & Knight | Scott Chantler

I saw these graphic novels at Ren Faire, so I requested them from the library.

Bette I liked Squire and Knight. Just got the 2nd Squire from the library. 📚👍 3w

978 1 782690 62 7; for the memorial read.

I liked 'Letter for the King' a few years ago. Nice but not finding it engaging (whether that is due to the translation or the original writing I don't know). I do like the illustrations, which are by the author

humouress Part 3 chapter 7: with its maybe-fey woods and cryptic remarks by several characters I feel we‘re on the cusp of something. First we were looking for a friend, who still hasn‘t turned up, and now we‘re helping another friend find his way home, but he doesn‘t seem sure that he wants to go there. 3w
humouress Finding the writing a bit rough (the original?/ the translation?); I keep getting snagged and it‘s slowing me down. ETA: I think the plotting is good but the vocabulary and maybe pacing are off. There are subtleties (the chess match) and tension - I had to put it down at the penultimate chapter. Better get back and see what happens… (edited) 3w
humouress “But history becomes legend, and legends are forgotten.” (Part 6, ch 4) WOT anyone? 2w
humouress “At my age it is too late to begin another life,” said Red Quibo. “I‘ll never get used to drinking water, (part 8 ch 8) - Quibo is usually to be found in pubs 2w

3✨ I feel like these books are really rushed. It‘s a great read for young kids to boost confidence. I‘m wondering in the notes are a build up as well. The first two books are building up a mystery in the series that might give the books more main plot than going to other places from their magical treehouse. #SeriesLove

I wasn't sure this one could be cuter than the first book but I was proven wrong!

I loved that it had a similar theme to the first book, in regards to discovery of self worth and friendship. A great read and the images are just as beautiful, detailed, and rich in color. Easy to read and follow along for young readers, or any age readers since I'm definitely older than the demographic for this one 😂

This was an adorable picture book!
A great story of our little owl with a big dream and with the support of his parents and his own ambition makes it happen.

Not a lot of text, but lots of illustrations that helped the story along and for me that makes it a great picture book to share with kids.

Sace What a precious cover. 🥰 8mo

mariaku21 @Sace the sequel has an equally great cover! 8mo
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick She did! Though I do think she enjoyed both Mother Bruce and Dragons Love Tacos more because my guy did excellent voices while reading them. 🤣 8mo
mariaku21 @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Dragons love Tacos is another great story. My nephew loved those when he was younger. 8mo

I think that this book would be a great use in this classroom and it could be a good lesson about chasing your dreams and being kind as well as being brave..

4✨ I should have read this ages ago! High school me loved Tamora Pierce and read 2 different quartets. This one is exactly what I remember of her writing. Packed with great writing, well thought out characters, battle scenes, and a coming of age story. Kel just wants to be treated fairly and she expressed this A LOT through the book. That would be my only complaint on repetitiveness. #roll100 #HauntedShelves #TeamFlurken
