This book is incredible! I loved the information about old books, the mystery surrounding the authorship of Shakespeare‘s works, the story of Peter and Amanda, and the mystery surrounding the whole thing. Wow! #mmdbookclub #modernmrsdarcy

Pickpick

This is the #mmdflightpick for September, although I had already purchased it on sale for Kindle because of its ties to Jane Eyre. Jane Steele is quite an independent woman for her time, and she has a tendency to take matters into her own hands. I wish I had had more time to read over the past week. I would have devoured this book much more quickly! It‘s definitely worth a reread! #ModernMrsDarcy #mmdbookclub

jillrhudy A favorite of mine and by far my favorite based on or about Austen. ❤️ 3mo
jenniferajanes @jillrhudy It was wonderful! I hadn‘t heard of it until it got involved with MMD and Litsy! I find so many good books in my online bookish communities! 📚🥰 3mo

This was fun! I doubt I would have read it if it wasn‘t the #mmdbookclub September pick. The mystery was interesting, with a twist I didn‘t see coming. The relationship between the lepidopterist and the natural historian was interesting and made me smile. I also admire Veronica‘s independence and desire for an adventure. She‘s pretty unflappable! #ModernMrsDarcy

I never had the least intention of reading a Veronica Speedwell mystery, but when it‘s a Modern Mrs Darcy book club pick, well, what choice do you have? I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it, although it was a bit corny in places. I guessed Veronica‘s secret before the reveal, and kind of knew what the resolution would be, but it was a fun read. #mmdbookclub @annebogel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

How did I not finish Pride and Prejudice before now?! I love this story and was continually reminded of the romance between Benedick and Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing (which I adore) as I read. Please sign me up for all the retellings! 🥰😍❤️

And now I want to read more Austen. I‘m converted!

sprainedbrain Welcome to the club! Do you plan to watch any adaptions? We will need to find out which Darcy you prefer. 😆 4mo
jenniferajanes @sprainedbrain Oh, gracious! I didn‘t even think about movie versions! What would you recommend? I‘ll have to see what I have access to! 😉 4mo
sprainedbrain @jenniferajanes the miniseries from 1995 with Colin Firth is very good... it‘s almost 6 hrs long and pretty true to the book. I also love the 2005 movie with Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen (my personal favorite Darcy). 😍 4mo
jenniferajanes @sprainedbrain Thank you! I‘ll have to see if I can find one or both of those! 4mo

Yes, I have a degree in English. Yes, I read classics. Somehow, I have never gotten all the way through Pride and Prejudice. It‘s the August pick for the #mmdbookclub, so I‘m diving in with Rosamund Pike as narrator! #modernmrsdarcy #audible #audiobook

AntoinetteBuchanan Oh to be reading it for the first time! 5mo
sprainedbrain I hope you love it! ❤️ 5mo

I enjoyed this book! It made me think about food differently, and I love how she explained the disguises and addressed how people are treated differently and made to feel inferior based on their physical appearance and other factors. I am even more determined to be kind to others! I didn‘t think a book about a food critic‘s job was for me, but I was wrong! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #mmdbookclub #modernmrsdarcy

I started listening to this yesterday. It‘s the #mmdbookclub selection for July. I don‘t consider myself a foodie, but it‘s interesting so far (21% in)! #modernmrsdarcy
