Sara, Will, Faith and Amanda are back in full force in this novel. The subject of rape is foremost all throughout the book. Rape is a tough topic for all, including these characters. Sara, Will and Faith try to solve the mysteries surrounding the last two incidents because of the similarities in them. The solution is inconceivable as Amanda is brought in to bring the answers forward. This could easily trigger rape victims. 4.5/5
3½ ✨
This is a hard one to read, the subject matter is so brutal and Slaughter portrays it so real and raw it hurts.
The set-up of this one just felt wrong to me, I didn't like the schemes and fake undercover that was set up to trick people. I like the hardcore police investigation. The criminal procedure is what got me into Slaughter, and it feels like this was just a personal vendetta to settle - a very disturbing one, but still.
My least favour
Dark topic and it delves into Sara‘s past. I like how it built. From not knowing for sure if a crime was committed, to wondering if it was related to another incident, to building a case that it might go deeper than anyone expected. Sara remembering Jeffrey and how what happened to her colored their relationship and Will‘s connection to her during the investigation brought a lot of depth to the story as well. Look forward to the next installment.
Fifteen years ago, Sara Linton‘s life changed forever when a celebratory night out ended in a violent attack that tore her world apart. Since then, Sara has remade her life. A successful doctor, engaged to a man she loves, she has finally managed to leave the past behind her. Until one evening, everything changes. Sara battles to save a young woman who‘s been brutally attacked. But it becomes clear that the assault is uncannily linked to Sara‘s.
Playing hooky from work for 30 minutes to sneak in some pages.
Last slaughter book released I said it would be my last, even they she used to be my fave. This was a gift but I still regret reading it
This is probably my least favorite of the series. The plot dragged, and I have so many questions left unanswered. As always, I love the dynamic between Will, Faith, and Amanda. I just expected more - I still feel like I need a shower after reading it, but the overall reading experience fell flat.
Too much information, not enough action or “mystery” as it was described. This 400 page book could have been written in 200…
The big reveal at the end occurred over 2 pages answering all of the questions in a neat little bow. No climax.
I‘ve heard lots of good things about this series but it fell flat for me.
ME TIME! My wonderful husband is watching our two young girls as I sit in my bedroom and start this one…coffee in hand ☕️
After a really long week and constantly being on the go, it feels so nice to have a little down time for myself.
I must not have been paying attention before starting this novel because I didn‘t realize this was part of a long standing series 🤦🏼♀️. Luckily I didn‘t feel lost in the plot, although it was clear that you‘d have a better appreciation for the characters and their connections if you‘d read the earlier books. The story was quite dark and graphic at times so I would recommend you check trigger warnings if you need to. It‘s hard to say I ⬇️
This is the 11th book in the Will Trent Series, which is a sequel to the 6 book Grant County Series and I have loved them all (including the TV show). Slaughter does not shy away from dark and brutal crimes, but has also developed wonderful multifaceted characters. The fact that I have not tired of them is a credit to the fascinating stories Slaughter creates. This one deals with a series of brutal rapes and I could not put it down. 4.5/5 stars!

Read last month. … Looking forward to some spooky reads in October.

be careful chasing ghosts because you might find demons
If anyone wonders where I am this week, I will be at home catching up on the #WillTrent series. Then it‘s on to spooky reads…. 💀👻🎃
PS: I am not going to review each book because I can tell you right now they will all be 4 to 5 stars and highly recommended. I love this series. #IYKYN
I almost returned this audio unread after realizing it was book 11 in a series I haven‘t read. But I gave it a go and was drawn in right away. It was obvious characters had backstories, but that didn‘t distract from the currents story. In fact, dang, now I‘ve just added 10 books to my TBR!
Another great addition to the Slaughter shelf 😂
I‘m glad we got to see Sara confront her past, since this event shaped her life & we have been hearing about it since book 1 of Grant County, it‘s shaped her relationships, it‘s why she is where she is doing what she is doing. I wish there was a little recap of Will‘s family, because I had forgotten & it played a big role in a side plot. Loved the ending. Looooved it.

Karin Slaughter has yet to disappoint me with her books. They are always the perfect combination of mystery, action, and darkness.
I liked that this one took us back into Sara's past and gave more insight into who she was and the tragic event that changed her world.
Another great page turner from the Queen of gritty crime novels. 💚
Intense, dark, and absolutely riveting. The incredibly talented Karin Slaughter ignites the action on page one, creating a real page turner that will keep you up till you read every satisfying page.
Fifteen years ago Sara Linton was viciously attacked, it destroyed her life and changed her forever.
Since that night Sara has worked hard to move on and has a career as a successful doctor, she is engaged and on the surface seems to have moved on.
Until one evening she is on duty and is called upon to save the life of a young lady who has been brutally attacked.
But this case has all the hallmarks of what happened to Sara that night.
I got the pleasure of meeting the one and only Karin Slaughter today at an author event. She was so funny and insightful. Such a great time! 📚🔍❤️
Excited to meet author Karin Slaughter Sunday! 🔍🩵🩶
Up next! Karin Slaughter is queen! 👑

I absolutely love this series! This is the best series I‘ve ever read. The character Will Trent seems to jump off the page and feels so much like a real person. He is so relatable. I highly recommend this series, and Karin Slaughter in general. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView
Taking a brief break from DCI Jack Logan to listen to the 11th book in Karin Slaughter‘s Will Trent series. I‘ve been so looking forward to this book!
So Faith‘s new man, Aiden, just mentioned that he never did cocaine because of what happened to Regina Morrow in Sweet Valley High, which is the SAME reason I‘ve never done the devil‘s dandruff! Also, I was on the Reading Team in high school, not really the cocaine crowd. I‘ve never even had the opportunity to say no, but I would have! RIP Regina!
It‘s been a long week and I still have hours to go before my work day is over, so I‘m treating myself to this audio, which I got a slightly early release of (it publishes on the 22nd). Love the Will Trent books and Kathleen Early always does a fantastic narration.

Bk10 of July & Bk2 of #JubilantJuly #readathon is done. Wow. I had to take a minute to recover from this one, it‘s heartbreaking & devastating. BIG TW for Violence against Women, if you‘ve ever been SA I would gird yourself well before reading. That said, it‘s still one of the best she‘s written. Slaughter has never shied from the awfulness we humans do to each other, but she adds enough hope to keep you going. 10⭐️ #BookspinBingo #SeriesLove2023
Halfway through this Collectors Edition of the new Will Trent for #JubilantJuly #readathon and I‘m not feeling very jubilant. This is dark. Really dark. Massive trigger warnings for Violence against Women, in every form. But she writes it so compellingly you can‘t stop reading. Pretty sure I‘ll be doing a long cry after this one.
4½✨
This felt like catching up with old friends.
I love the dynamic Slaughter created between four of my favourite characters (Will, Sara, Faith and of course Amanda)
Even with this very dark, disturbing and sad topic I couldn't put down the book! Slaughter knows how to capture her audience.
Can hardly wait to meet my friends again in the new one.
And I know it might be a long wait.
Quick update on my #20in4 #ReadAThon progress
I knew on Saturday I wouldn't get much reading in, so I pushed Friday to its max
Today I went for a morning run and then basically sat down and read until I had to do dinner.
My total reading time is 15h38m
Confident that I'll make it to 20h tomorrow.
@Andrew65
If you love Slaughter and Sara and Will, you‘ll love this. As always- it‘s very dark and a very upsetting subject matter.
Story build up is great - as is all the relationship development. Wish she wrote one every week.

#hotelreading
Just over an hour to go in this one- I‘m totally gripped. We only have an hours train journey today so will probably finish later once settled into holiday accommodation 😁
Hairdresser reading 😁 holidays tomorrow.
I'm already reading way too many books at the same time...
But my finger slipped and I ACCIDENTALLY bought After that Night.... and of course I started reading
Now I don't want to go to bed.
Wow I love this series so much and was really looking forward to reading this. Its very dark and does deal with some very triggering themes but I think it handles it well and shows some interesting persepectives. Esepecially between Sara and Sloane. The plot is a slower burn but it does fit with the story and wow what an ending. I had an idea but how it all came together was brilliant. #Netgalley #ReadersFirst 5*
I love forgetting about pre-orders! The new Will Trent people 😁😁 I go on holiday at the end of next week so I‘m going to try and save!
