The Thursday Murder Club wins my #WeeklyFavorites read for last week.
My last book completed for the #NovelNovember readathon!
It was great fun to be back with the septuagenarians of Cooper‘s Chase. Once again, they outwit some very dangerous characters, often because they are underestimated. I really want Viktor to move into the community and I also hope Computer Bob returns.
These characters- primary and supporting- are just wonderful. This one hit a bit different. So many emotions.

The fourth in Richard Osman‘s bestselling THURSDAY MURDER CLUB SERIES is a clever and emotional story that shows neat continuity with the earlier books and also fleshes out Ibrahim‘s backstory. Although there are no surprises here, it‘s considered and moving without being mawkish and ends in a satisfying way that allows Osman to go off and set up a new and different series of books while also allowing a return to the pensioner at a later date.
What I‘m reading this weekend. 🤞🏻
#WeekendReading
Joyce, Elizabeth, Ron and Ibrahim and the side characters (Chris, Donna and Bogdan) are fantastic. They are out to solve the murder of a shop owner they knew, heroine is involved. The murder mystery is good, the friendships and lives of the 4 MCs are what I read the books for though. I am always a bit sad when I am done with these books - like saying goodbye to a group of good friends . Perfect series!
Make a great day everyone 🍂

I actually finished this one over the weekend but I haven‘t gotten a chance to post it. This 4th book in the Thursday Murder Club series took a piece of my heart with it in the best possible way. One minute I‘m snickering, the next, crying my eyes out. Osman has made me love these characters enormously & I will truly miss them as he takes a break for new projects. I‘ll be waiting & also reading whatever else he writes.
Love this series and the characters but 😭😭
#readingbracket2023 #2023readingbracket I didn‘t have what it takes to make the tough calls this month 😬🫠 I had enough trouble picking between several amazing October reads to be my favorite October read. AND THEN, I had to pick between Sept and Oct. AAANNNDDDD THENNNNN I need to pick again?! I couldn‘t do it today. I am deferring to Future Amy to make that call 😈 So, to be continued…
This series 🥹🫶🏻 There‘s nothing more that I can add to what the reviews have already said, I‘ll just echo and agree that this is a beautifully written book.
I found this wine today and the little doggie looked exactly what I imagine Alan looks like, maybe not with the monocle but then again, Joyce would love it 🐶🐾♥️
My hold came in - looking forward to this one !

Make a great day everyone 🎃
Osman has done it again! This fourth book felt simultaneously sadder and funnier, IMO. But definitely sadder. A fitting last book before he takes a break from these characters for a while, even tho he promised they‘ll be back.
I‘m excited for Osman‘s next series. When he writes, it feels like a musical fugue - the way dialogue overlaps like a real life conversation - and everything is woven together so masterfully.
Poignant, funny, complex. Such a beautifully written series, dealing with aging, death, changing worlds and in the end, the depths of love.
#Audioflatpacking!
It‘s WET 💦 out there, and I‘ve finally splurged on shelves-with-drawers-in. I‘ve been after them for months 😁
This instalment in the series is more poignant than the earlier books, but it is still a lot of fun. It is a testament to Osman‘s skill as a story teller that he balances the gently humourous with serious observations of love and loss and it all feels very natural.
I really loved this story but I had a personal problem with it. I didn‘t like the focus on Steven it made the entire story miserable for me. It‘s a really great book just know that it deals with dementia and euthanasia.
This could be a small bit but it impacted me greatly. I hope he continues on with light hearted great sleuthing with the club!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Edit - #31by31 … 20/31
As delightful as ever, with some added emotional heft this go round.
Happy to see in the acknowledgements that there are plans for more, and a new series on the horizon from Osman!
Emotional, touching, sad and bittersweet, also funny and twisty. This series keeps getting BETTER and BETTER!
I devoured this in a few hours, putting it down only to sit and cry for a bit over a certain plot development that leaves the Club in an unsettled place and is a good place for Richard to pause the series for a while. I appreciated learning more about Ibrahim and meeting Computer Bob, and Joyce came into her own very well. At this point I'm reading mainly for the characters (although the plots are fun too).
The audiobooks in the series are so good - lots of different accents etc … really adds to the experience. The gang is assembled and ready to solve another murder. But this story has some serious and emotional scenes as well as the usual humour . So have your Kleenex handy and join the Thursday Murder Club 👍👍💚🐉
Finished this in about 24 hours so I think it‘s safe to say my slump has been beaten! This series is so charming and I‘m sad we won‘t get another one for a little while. Now that we‘re at book 4, I‘m reading these for the characters a bit more than for the mystery, and this one was a little more emotional than I was expecting, but a good read nonetheless. 4/5⭐️
Well, I didn‘t know the books that would fall in its grid when I pre-ordered the tagged, but I could have told you then that regardless the other 8 books my favorite would be the tagged!
5* = Loved It, want to shout out loud about this book! I do/will own/keep a physical copy. A+
4*= I liked it, would love to discuss. Solid B
3*=Meh, no need to discuss. Avg C
2*=Nope D
1*=DNF F
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love these books so much. This one was just as charming, funny, and sweet as the previous three. I giggled and cried, and I'm especially sad because I've read he won't be writing more of these (at least for now). 🥺

Been in a reading slump the past couple of weeks, time to try and get out of it!
Read this on the plane to and from Iceland. Great plane book. We saw the northern lights, it was beyond description.
The latest Thursday Murder Club is a pick, of course! Such a wonderful series. It‘s always a treat to spend time with these characters.
These just keep getting better and better.
The Thursday Murder Club is still laugh out loud funny and I can‘t think of a better gang to have kept me company while I try to fight off the nasty cold going around my area. #doublespin @TheAromaofBooks #scarathlon #skeletoncrew @Emilymdxn
I LOVE this series. We continue to get to know these marvelous characters and see how the relationships deepen between them. While there are multiple murders and plot twists, and a lot of humor, it is the lovely elderly cohorts that keep me coming back. Osman creates some beautiful and poignant scenes as the friends face some hard realities of life in your 80s. So good.
#SeptemberRecap. Had a great reading month! Loved them all!

✔️ Old favorite authors: Ann Patchett and Angie Kim did not disappoint.
✔️ Reread The Secret History, still love it.

I was proud of myself, I guessed right away what the ending would be and why, but it was still such a fun book. It is peppered with humor and poignant moments and one big tearjerker. These characters are drawn so amazingly well. It is so enjoyable to watch them grow, especially Joyce.
How dare Richard Osman make me cry (although woman reading it on the lounger next to me didn't seem to cry, maybe I'm emotionally charged). So not a good holiday look. I really do love this series.
I listened to 10 audiobooks in September. My favorite read is the tagged title followed by The Embroidered Book. The Eye of the World was the longest audiobook- clocking in at 33 hours! 😅
Oh, Stephen. Oh, Elizabeth. Oh, my heart 💔 #bookreport
Finished during #ReadySetRead for 2 hrs - husband was worried about all the sniveling on my birthday but I couldnt put it down @Bookwormjillk

I'll add more tags in comments, too, I'm sure...
This is was an easy decision this month. I had to go with the book that felt like being reunited with old friends laughter and tears included. #readingbracket2023
So, the first of this series was our FOTL read this month. I absolutely loved it and plowed through the next books - including the fourth that just came out on Tuesday! These are so fun! I read the first then listened to the others. Leslie Manville brilliantly narrates the first two and the ridiculously talented Fiona Shaw takes on the last two. The audiobooks also have interviews with the author after that are super fun! Happy I found these!
I just love this series, and they get better with each book.
With this one though, I had to try not to snivel and sniff whilst sitting in the silent Gladstone‘s Reading Room. 😢
I laughed, I cried. I loved it. Can‘t wait till the next one! ❤️
I forgot to post last week‘s #bookreport 🤦🏻♀️
The Spy and the Traitor was the clear front runner but I‘m not sure who I‘m fooling here, obviously I was going to read the newest Thursday Murder Club book first since I had just got it from the library 😎
I love this series. There was a scene in this book, though, where I nearly cried. We also learn something new about Ibrahim. The story is pretty convoluted, but these characters are wonderful. #audiowalk
Often I complain about a book when I think there are characters superfluous to a story. So why then am I so enamored by this series best served read in sequence from book 1-4? Besides some fun murder mysteries, I think it‘s because Osman creates such a big dynamic world for his octogenarians.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book could have been three times as long as it was, and I still would have been disappointed when it ended.
Osman has created such lovable, distinct, hilarious characters in this series - I was grinning on page 1, laughing out loud by chapter 2, and pausing to cry a few times throughout.
Cannot say enough good things. Masterfully done.
Usually when I‘m in SC, I stay with my sister; I know her neighborhood pretty well and am comfortable enough to walk at night. This week I‘m staying with one of my brothers. It got pretty late and I don‘t know his neighborhood, so my walk was short. At least I did get some Thursday Murder Club listening in. 😊 #audiowalk
I just love these characters so much (and the mysteries are fun too).
Well, I was going to go back to Excellent Women until I learned this new Thursday Murder Club book was out, so now it‘s my walking book. Walked a lot today because it was such a lovely day outside. #audiowalk
Isn‘t it just THE BEST when 3 library holds come in and 2 preorders arrive on the same day 🤪😜 Really hoping nobody else requests the library books (3 on right) since there is no way I‘ll finish them all in 3 weeks. Especially when I have a new Richard Osman and Kate Atkinson waiting 😋 Happy Friday!!
Early morning flight to Chicago to spend the weekend with my best friend. I‘m taking The Thursday Murder Club crew with me 😁
Currently listening to the tagged title. Words cannot express how excited I am!
