The Lighthouse Mystery | Gertrude C. Warner

These are just fun little mysteries that are appropriate for all ages. In this installment, the children and their grandfather spend the summer renting a lighthouse. A mystery presents itself when the family dog begins barking each night at midnight. Alden children to the rescue!

Finished this LATE last night and was too tired to post. Why did I wait so long to read this? Such a captivating retelling of the Robin Hood legend, set in Wales. I love a book that has me expanding my vocabulary, and that leads me to research other things. Would‘ve finished lots sooner otherwise, but would‘ve left less fulfilled!

No intellectual revelations with this one, but a whole LOT of fun! Princess Mia has to deal with a boyfriend who is now in college, among many other issues that to her teenaged brain are wildly blown out of proportion. I felt like she is starting to grow up a bit in this one, and look forward to reading the next few in the series.

One S'more Summer | Beth Merlin

This is the kind of romance I like: 1st person narrator.
While there is still quite a bit of predictability, I liked the setting of being at camp and revisiting the MC‘s past there. It allowed me to do the same, as I spent several summer weeks at camp, although never an entire summer! There are two more books in the series and I will probably read them both over the next month!

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick This looks adorable! I bet making s'mores in my microwave as a reading snack would make it better. 😁 4y
keys_on_fire That‘s a great idea! I‘m going camping this weekend and I plan to bring the second book in the series, so I‘ll be trying that too! @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick (edited) 4y

I‘ve read one Agatha Christie book prior to this, and this is actually her first novel so it was really interesting to see her ‘style‘ (see what I did there?) from the beginning. I love how easy they are to read, but how much intricate detail and weaving of the different leads there is! I will continue to read through the stack I have accumulated, for sure!

Four down...One to go!
Percy goes on another adventure l, this time into Daedalus‘ labyrinth to prevent an attack on Camp Half-blood. This book was different in that he had more of his close friends with him and the tension is ramping up as we are getting closer to the birthday prophecy being revealed. Looking forward to reading the next one, and yet, already sad...

keys_on_fire Oh you should move it up! 😂 It‘s been especially great to read during this pandemic because it‘s such a great escape! 4y

Mystery and suspense during summer vacation for the Wakefield twins! Elizabeth struggles with whether she can like two boys at the same time! Jessica thinks the worst about someone, again! 🤣🤣

It has been fun revisiting these, and has made easy reading for knocking multiple titles for both my challenge and the readathon, but I think I‘m gonna pivot to something a little deeper for the next book!

Another book down for #jubilantjuly, #paperbackcrush and #MtTBR2020
This one was not my fave. Enid and her entire family were just whiny and mean to each other. Sure, it happens in real life, but in a world that is so unrealistic, the bad things are just so amplified 😝😆
What saved this was the subplot of Elizabeth filming a SV documentary.
