The latest in the Hamish Macbeth series is kind of a tie-in to events that happened in the previous book. Green‘s contribution to the series has made the narrative a bit more polished, which I think has made the characters and setting fresher and in some ways has revitalized the series.

I can tell I am that distracted that I forgot to take a photo of the book before returning it to the library! So, enjoy a photo of #SebastianKitty #CatsOfLitsy !

Widowed Lily Adler is just trying to get back into society when a young blackmailer is found murdered at her friend‘s ball. And she is desperate to see justice done.

This was a really sweet cozy mystery. All of the characters felt fleshed out, the setting was well done, & the pacing was great. I did predict the culprit, but the mystery kept me guessing on motives. Definitely going to put a hold on the next one! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

random_michelle I've read all of the books in this series most of her Nightingale Lounge series.

What I love most is all the inclusion she has--and that gets stronger as the series progresses.

BookmarkTavern @random_michelle I hadn‘t realized it was the same author! 😅 I love that series! I‘m looking forward to more of this one! I‘ve already got Silence in the Library on hold. (edited) 1mo
random_michelle I ended up buying the whole series because I enjoyed it so much. I especially like Hartley--I haven't found a lot of books that address the fact that many of the first English colonists tended to take Indian wives--at least until women started to go to India as well.

This is one of only three series I can think of off the top of my head that has a significant character who is a child of one of those unions. :)

I didn‘t walk today because I found myself just too tired to do so — probably leftover from COVID — but I did finish The Ghost Orchid. I ended up liking it more than I thought I would because it took some unexpected turns. My favorite part, though, involved a case of Alex‘s that was completely unrelated to the murder.

bookaholic1 Love this series...Alex and Milo are my all time favorites 2mo
KathyWheeler @bookaholic1 I love them too. 2mo

So far, this is one of the less interesting Alex Delaware books, but it‘s still not bad. Beautiful day out today. #audiowalk

Because of Covid and the fatigue from it, I have not walked for 17 days. I was finally able to do so today. I always love a new Alex Delaware book, so this one is my new walking book. #audiowalk

Bookwormjillk I‘m glad you‘re back out there. It took me a while to get back to normal too. 2mo
KathyWheeler @Bookwormjillk Me too. I wasn‘t expecting it to be this long! 2mo

From the months-ago library wait-list request to approximately page 200, when the orchid becomes significant to the plot, I thought the title was “The Ghost Orchard.” 🤷‍♀️
ANYWAY:
Kellerman is one of my auto-read authors and I am absolutely delighted to have ignored every and all active, productive, social, responsible plans I had for today so I could double down on hanging with Alex, Milo, Blanche and Robin. 📖

Mehso-so

This book could have been so much better. It had great promise but fell flat. The solution was so so easy. And the final chapter supposedly tied up the secondary theme, but seemed so…odd. Final analysis: meh. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

monkeygirlsmama That's disappointing. :( 2mo
Suelizbeth @monkeygirlsmama I know. The last few have been up and down. 📚❤️ 2mo

A beautiful, kind, successful fashion designer in #Ghana. Why would so many people want to kill her? Including members of her own family? Private investigator Emma Djan unravels a host of mysteries along with her coworkers, and a few honest policeman, to find and catch the murderer. So many suspects with viable motives, I was kept guessing quite a long time. Such an excellent writer. #foodandlit #serieslove2 @Catsandbooks @TheSpineView @Andrew65

Even though written by a man, this author really gets a woman‘s perspective. Book 2 in this Emma Djan series is shaping up to be as good as Book 1. #foodandlit #Ghana @Catsandbooks

Catsandbooks 👏🏼They question women for everything we do or don't do 🙄 Glad the book is going well! 3mo
