April BOTM picks are finally live!
What is everyone thinking?!
What do a 30 year old jewelry heist, a murder in a columbarium (crypt) and a toucan have in common? More than you would think, as it turns out!
Also, I learned that toucans cannot not talk (I never thought about this before), and they are incredibly messy eaters that adore fruit.
It‘s been a busy weekend. I didn‘t want to try to figure out what to read so I kept with this series. Besides this full book I also read a couple of short companion stories to this series. A Deadly Brew and Rockets Dead Glare.
Now THAT is a genius idea.
The second in the series was slightly better than the first, in my opinion. Still a so-so read. Mel‘s mother I think is made to be somewhat comic with her insecurities and her overprotectiveness, but it just bothers me. Though she was dating the victim, and was a suspect, I‘m kind of glad she did not seem to be as much of a part of this book as the last one - more time to focus on Mel and Angie and the bakery! ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Time to catch up with Mrs. Fletcher

This series is growing on me. Charlie is still kind of a judgmental busybody in this book but it kind of works. I skipped a few so eventually I‘ll go back to the beginning.
I like this little series. It‘s good for when things get to serious. Gives my mind a break.
This is my third time reading this first in the series, the second time on audio, and every time I read this, I find more things that bother me. I cannot stand Mel‘s mother. She‘s a horror - thank goodness my mother does not come to my house to make sure I‘m awake!
I do plan to continue to listen to the series - cupcakes for the win! - but I‘ll be interested to see how the characters develop.
