A Room Made of Leaves | Kate Grenville

My favourite of Kate‘s books yet. Only my second actually. She is an Australian author. This was my school holiday read I forgot to post. I was at my sister‘s place 50 km from the nearest town, enjoying this beautiful book and some quiet time then the niece got in with me and everyone out in the garden came to the window to chat #noonecaresinthecountry Last time I visited I was sick with Influenza A so it was much nicer this time. Not freezing.

Little Free Library finds these holidays. The top book will be given to my niece.

Jeg The bottom two are great reads. 1mo

I thought I was going to return this to the library unfinished - I found the beginning of Elizabeth's marriage terribly depressing. I'm so glad I gave it one more shot! It turned out to be absolutely beautiful and comforting and challenging and I loved it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

Jeg I loved it too. 2mo

I heard this novel being reviewed glowingly on an Australian radio book show and added it to my long #tbr list. Written in 2011, but set mainly in the 1920s & 30s, it is a beautifully written, rural family saga about horse jumping. It felt a little Grapes of Wrath to me 🤔. I thoroughly appreciated (rather than enjoyed) this harrowing, affecting #ozfiction.

Hooked_on_books Sounds good! But I have to say it drives me crazy when the author‘s name is SO much larger than the title. At least make them the same size! 6mo

I found another book shop today in Newcastle
The book Greengrocers.
They had a great clearance section outside so I got this chunkster for $4.
I was a bit disappointed in there true crime section but we can't have everything in life.
